Probably being in there so replace the cheap thing when it's all apart instead of waiting until the mileage

I'm having the same problem and thought it was coming from my A/C drain. Turns out my leak was coming from dry rotted boots around my transmission shifter and transfer case shifter. You might want to look there

I thought timing belts would be expensive to buy.

That makes more sense. I would of replaced it at 200K but at least you got that done so you can run another 100K

I read somewhere where it mentioned water pumps usually don't last more than 100,000 miles and typically need to be replaced around that time. I'm not sure if that's true or not but if so, mine lasted for 240,000 miles… Can't complain, I guess that's pretty good.

A Gates timing belt by itself is around $30. If you purchase it in a kit with the two tensioner pulley's, it's around $160. If you include the hydraulic tensioner, add an additional $100.
    All Gates parts.

I just really don't want to try to chase a leak...Sounds like a royal pain in the rear.

Sucks to fix no way to weld it as it's leaking somewhere under another layer of sheet metal. I sanded the rust on the interior and pumped it full of 5200.

I think there is a second gen on here with 400,000 miles on the original water pump.

Edit: yep here it is https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/400-000-miles.404359/

Preventative maintenance is called preventative because you replace something before its life span is near the end, so that you don't get stranded.

After replacing several hoses on the cooling system and still loosing water I assumed it was leaking from the water pump. Under further inspection I found a trail of coolant leaking around the thermostat housing area which just about supported my diagnosis... It has over 240,000 miles on it so it wouldn't hurt to install a new water pump regardless. Upon pulling the water pump off I found several areas where it had been slowly leaking over time but there's always that chance it could be leaking in the intake area or some place else. So far she's been holding coolant/anti-freeze and I have been driving it for two weeks now...

Actually it's not really hard at all to replace the two rubber boots around the AT shifter and Transfer shifter. If you do decide to check and replace I would go ahead and replace the four AT shifter bushings as well as the two bushings that are attached on the link from the shifter to the transmission.

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
Bought a Double Cab from a local dealer. When I get a "new" vehicle I remove the carpet and pressure clean it out in the yard. This is what I found in a dealer prepped vehicle. Not real bad but not my standard.

That might be it, but I feel like all the stains are visible with the seats in anyway..
