I look into this and no dealership in the Carolinas that was selling near invoice would even consider to order me a truck and ship it. I did all the math of expenses and found that it would cost a lot of money to take a week off work and drive the thing home.

I feel coming from the Chevy community (1500 and 2500HD), I thought it was ridiculous to spend over $100 on a tank of gas. I believe the price of gas is way more expensive in CA than other states.
In my opinion the Tacoma's were the most reliable V6 trucks on the market and could do everything I needed to do. It also helped that my good friend is a GSM at one of the local dealerships and gave it to me below invoice.

You could make that drive in 3 days if you wanted to. I drove from Phoenix to Montgomery Alabama in 2 days. Take off Thursday night, Drive out Friday morning and be home by late Sunday.

It isn't the best selling vehicle in the state (some are)
It is the highest selling state for each vehicle. For example, they sell more Caddy EXT's in Texas than any other state - not that the EXT is the best selling vehicle in Texas.

I live in the east, and can confirm this. But to be honest 1st gen tundras are stupid popular with the high school kid crowd over here too. Never understood why, I really don't care for them personally, and from what I'm told they're always broken. In my area toyotas are really popular, but the amount of hillbillies with lifted rot box chevys is insane.

Everyone in Kalifornia wants to head to the beach or the mountains. Ya know, whether there is snow or not, you need that 4X4. I backpack year round, I have a rear wheel drive, live in the mountains, my friends show up in 4X4's and they all live in the city. :) Flat landers! Sold my old LUV a couple years ago, had not registered it the previous 8 years as I only used it for hauling firewood and could not afford to keep three vehicles insured and registered.

Phoenix to Montgomery is 1700 miles which I did in 2 days and LA to Charleston is under 2500 miles. So yea, do the math.... easily doable in 3 days like I said

The SD port near 32nd st houses the most tacoma anywhere in the country. on my drive to work, i see multiple vehicle carriers taking New Tacomas to their respective dealers on a daily basis.

You cant bring a new vehicle into California unless it has over 7500 miles on the odo. And the real reason Calif has more tacos than anywhere else is we have an oped revolving door with Mexico with numerous ports of entry both above and below ground. LOL

Ok my bad, someone mentioned about buying out of state anddriving it back to California.

The other is a joke about the trucks coming from Mexico and the shortest route into the US is thru the tunnels and borders to Calif.

You drove 850 miles a day by yourself?

The route I looked up from LA to NC was 2700 miles.

Why do you think we can't do this? I know many people who have done this. They pay their added tax, and go to the DMV and get their title in the mail.
