    About to Add OME Lift
    I have a 1st gen Tacoma ext. cab with the 2.7L, 4x4, and the trd off-road package. I'm wanting 2 to 3 inches of lift. Don't plan on doing any hard core rock crawling but would like the truck to be as capable as can be with a 3 inch lift. I can't spend over a thousand dollars at the time and I don't want to waste any money. Is the toytec 3 inch ome lift good with ome 881's and the toytec add a leaf? Do I need to get the exhaust bracket kit? Is it easy to assemble the shock/ coil or should I just have them do it for the extra 100 dollars? Are there any alternatives that wouldn't break the bank? I have done a lift before with a friend (Wrangler...) but not on my Tacoma.. Thanks in advance!

    Or I might just squeeze some extra money out and get a complete ome kit :homer: but that would be a little less lift.

    It just might upset the girlfriend... :rolleyes:

    Try comparing prices with @HeadStrong Off-Road, you might be able to get in for a bit less cash. They saved me $300 on my OME lift compared to another vendor.

    Our first gen Tacoma page is under construction. I have been working on it behind the scenes and am nearly finished with it. In the meantime of it being launched you can PM me with what you are looking for and I can supply you with the pricing and availability. We also have complete kits available for it as well.

    Have a great day!

    While the OME is solid, the BOSS kit will be a smoother ride, IMO.

    @baronczka while headstrong is updating the website id take a look at the warranty page as well.
    http://www.headstrongoffroad.com/important-information.html

    If i were you id either get an entire OME kit or the toytec BOSS setup if you have the extra coin. It will ride much smoother with the updated valving on the BOSS shocks, I've heard the OME kits run really stiff!!

    What's the story with this BOSS stuff? First I'm hearing about it. Is it the same as before, just with a different shock? If so, is the shock valved more appropriately for Tacomas? I wouldn't mind getting softer shocks in the back.. these 5125s are quite stiff (255/70 valving). Or would OME nitros be better?

    Toytec developed the BOSS shock and valved it to be a better ride quality with our trucks. I had 5100's before and the BOSS setup is a world of difference!! Yes the bilsteins are still a great shock and kit but for a few extra bucks id save and get the BOSS kit over OME or Bilstein.

    BOSS kit for 1st gen tacoma's, bigger shock shaft and better ride quality than the ultimate kit.

    they still have whats called the ULTIMATE KIT, which is a height adjustable coilover lift kit using bilstein shocks, great kit and works very well.

    i can find out for ya!!

    @thunderone

    i can find out for ya!!

    In regards to your 5125's. Those are pretty good riding shocks if they are in good condition. The valving on the Boss shocks is closer to the 5100. They are going to try and get exact specs tomorrow for ya, 5125s are usually softer shocks being an off road shock.

    Doug from ToyTec had them on the rear of his first gen Tacoma and with a heavy load they were really bouncy, too soft. You should give them a call and chat about your needs, they can get ya set up!!
