Oh good man... sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday.... but glad you passed. That whole emissions crap is so annoying. I wish they would just hook up the OBDII port call it good like many other states. Did I mention that chipotle avocados grow better and healthier with more Co2 to utilize?

 

Lmao. Dude, without the turbo hooked, my truck felt insanely slow. Hahah. I was like really, this is all you got?

 

Lol... so flippin lame> so I just failed my emissions test too. Thought I would be good with a half gal of alcohol to a half tank but I fell above the limit for every category. Hydrocarbon, co2 and NoX was barely, and I mean barely above the limit. Running high NoX can be caused partly from using denatured alcohol because of a lean condition, but I thought I'd be runnin more rich than anything. Oh well, I'm runnin 85 octane and NA until the next test on Monday after my new o2 sensor arrives. High on everything means a laggy o2 sensor, high hydrocarbon and co2 means rich, and high NoX means lean.
Note to self and everyone else: stay the F#€% away from non-NKG o2 sensors. Those things should last more than 2 years.

Na dude, I love CO too much. We were supposed to get rid of this emissions BS years ago, but the tree huggers fought tooth and nail to keep it.
I also made the dumb mistake of resetting the ECU right before I went which renders the IM monitors incomplete so it has to re-learn and re-tune itself for maximum efficiency. I've been getting a slow o2 sensor response code for the last month which I should have fixed...but oh well. I know I'll pass on Monday.

Use one full gallon per 1/2 tank. I used 2 gal (full tank) in mine but want it out asap. I've heard it can mess up any rubber lines. Not sure if there are a lot of those or no on our trucks. You'll get it next time.

 

Hey man I got a question. Would I have to upgrade my injectors if i'm only running 5 psi? I saw some guys who didn't and where just fine...All I really want is a little extra kick lol. Also what are you using for your pressurized oil source?

 

I was told no. you just hook the fpr up to a boost reference and the stock system will produce 10-11 afr at wot. And there is a spot in the block you can tap into for oil. Not sure exactly were it is though

 

oh ok well that sounds all good (though it would be more complicated or something lol) ...now to find that oil tap g spot......

I would suggest not buying the actual cx kit. The turbo that comes with it is to big. You will not get as much power in the driving rpm range. Unless your looking for top end performance only.

Buy different v bands. Don't use the cx ones.

And you don't have an intercooler.

And our going to need all new 3" exhaust

As far as I know stock maf will work

Hmm the kit has an intercooler?? well at least on the website it says it does...
The exhaust should be no big deal...
and v bands aren't crazy expensive so that should be no big deal either haha

EDIT:well I guess that smaller turbo wont be to much more...

 

The IC in the kit is big and the mounting puts it way low so don't plan on offroading with it.

As far as the oil feed, is a port right next to the oil pressure sensor. Its stuck good so be careful you don't do what I did and strip it (its a hex bolt).

hmm well actually I'd prefer a bigger turbo simply because I like WOT and the noises it makes plus i dont really wanna be on boost to often with where i live...

This is stupid. You want to have an efficient turbo not one that makes cool noises. Yeah can it make more power in the long run, sure but that means having to upgrade a bunch of other crap as well. If you don't want to be in boost often keep your foot off the gas pedal. And seriously how often are you in WOT? I think you would be disappointed in the results the bigger turbo gives you.

 

If your on limited budget then don't buy the whole kit cause you won't use most of the stuff. Just buy the headers and down pipe and try to see if cx will exclude the v bands and see if you can get a discount from that. One thing I learned from researching all this stuff is it isn't exactly a "limited budget" kid of deal, not if your doing it right.

 

lol obviously I'm not only concerned with cool noises just being light hearted is all Also its not like the larger turbo will be detrimental to anything either, and I do find myself at 5/8ths and 3/4 throttle quite a bit...What would the larger turbo spool at anyways? Also whats wrong with the v bands cx sends?
