Probably been covered, but I had a very annoying dash rattle on my new to me 2001 2.7. Especially bad when it was cold out.

I got rid of it by cutting an 18 inch 50 lb rated black bungee and stuffing it between the window and dash. Fit perfectly when you cut the ends off( and removed the metal hooks on bungee of course)

You can barely see it and it stopped the sound perfectly.

I used 1/4" rubber fuel line, cut it to fit the entire length of the dash. Pretty much anything rubber that you can stuff between the gap will work. Let us know if it holds up through the hot months and back into cold months though, that's the real test.

I will report back should it fail to work long term. I like the idea of the rubber fuel line as it perhaps 'gives' a bit more for changing temps. I do like the way the bungee fit though.

    same!

short term you can fold up a piece of thin cardboard several times and wedge it between the glass and the dash near the middle to eliminate the majority of the rattle :D

Did this fix too. Works good. Wondering though has anybody ever found the culprit that is the root cause of the rattle?

Finally put 12-18" of 5/32 rubber hose in mine today. Been rattling for 1 1/2 yrs that I've had it. Worked perfect

Clips that hold the dash in get loose over time. A "fix" in a TSB was to remove the dash and attach 3m tape stuff to the clip nubs and reinstall. The dash also rattles against some sort of metal bar that's close to the airbag. Not worth removing the whole dash to fix when this works just fine.

It's a band aid fix, but I would hate to pull apart the dash.

Next I need to locate the high pitched squeak cricket like sound that I can hear coming from the back. It's barely audible, and doesn't bother me, but I may still try and find it. Think I will try and lube all seat hinges ect in the cab and go from there.

Anyone know of a grease/lube that would work? Non stink and non toxic? I have a Lab and he will likely lick anything back in the cab if it resembles food in any way.

If something in the back is squeaking, check the little storage things under the back seats (if you have an extra cab). Something was squeaking back there with mine and it was just some of the junk I put in the storage rubbing together.

Haha. Same for me. I forgot I threw a can of Fix a Flat under one of my back seats when I first got the truck, and for a while I was thinking WTF is that noise? Turns out it was just the can...Didnt realize it could roll around in that tiny space.
