lets just say you got this truck with expensive cool items, someone can easily find your home address by your plate number then go to you place around 3am and just take whatever they want , assuming that its not garage kept.

Im sure you'll need to know what you are doing or have some connections here and there, but you'd be surprised what these scrubs will do to steal a used $100 tonneau cover and so on.

    Paranoia mostly.
If someone is going to look up my plate somehow and get my address to rob me, they would have to be local. If they are local they can see my plate every day when I am in my truck driving around or parked at the mall.

20160126_095733.jpg I wanted to do this to my truck. So I got some paint from Automotive touch up. chrome grill with 600 grit sandpaper. I also ordered a grill from custom car grills.com. so I cut out the middle section of my grill.I put about 7 coats of self etching primer on the grill. I wet sanded the primer. Then I put 7 base coats on the grill. When it was all dry I put 5 coats of clear coat on the grill and polished it. I also painted the radiator black as well as the lower valence interior peace. 20160126_165341.jpg this is the final outcome I think it turned out pretty good.20160127_144915.jpg 20160127_145011.jpg

Looks awesome. How much did the paint and clear coat run you in total?

I got two cans of base coat. (Only needed one can) and one can of clear coat. $57 shipped to my house. Duplicolor did not make my color.20160109_174912.jpg

I ws talking about OP's truck. his grill has vents on them. Different grill from 2012-2015, than from from 2005-2011.

I have same color truck btw! look into gunmetal wheels ;) looks great with our color. I used same process to paint my wheels a few weeks back . Love them.

i never understood why people paint their radiator? wouldn't that layer of paint put a strain on the condenser?

Let me get back to you tomorrow. I don't have any good pictures, but here are some I've taken.

Also, take a look at @motionridr8 's build. He was the inspiration

It's a light coat of spray paint. I haven't noticed any changes in my temperature Guage. I also ordered a lower grill insert. I painted that area to.

I wish @05PreRunner (the OP) was still around since he started this thread so he could report on how it held up. My guess is not so well. Paint adheres to chrome (hot dipped or vacuum applied to plastics) like crap and adhesion promoter is for plastic not vacuum metalized plating.
