Ohh...and I sold that truck in 2012, and I still see it going down the road from time to time.

Yeah...but you can buy 4 rangers and build them up for the cost of one Tacoma...hence why they have been so popular

I mean, I guess you could buy four Rangers, but you can only drive one truck. May as well make it the best. My dad had a Ranger, a few of them actually, and your right, they were cheap. Cheap cost and cheaply made.

I'll be honest. Really can't remember the last time I saw a Ranger. Not a bad little truck I guess. I've owned several Ford trucks. Just no comparison.

Well...you do live in New Jersey which is only like 10 square miles of the US :rimshot:

But seriously ...anyone else miss the days of $9995 Toyota mini ? Ford is smart in the regard that they will put someone in a truck for zero down and $200 per month payment which leaves you with a whole lot more mod money per month. It sucks that Toyota killed off the reg cab so there is no " low budget " Taco left ...

I had a 1990 Ford Ranger 4x4 manual tranny truck that I drove for 14 years before I bought my Tacoma , that truck was awesome , I couldn't kill it

I had a Crystal Blue 91 Ranger manual. Use to stack firewood in the bed till it rolled off the sides. Knee trouble started causing me pain so I had to go to an automatic. Miss that little truck. Even had 2 deer run into it driving 60 mph down the highway. I liked to cried!

They done that so they can use one frame for all models of the Tacoma..

The ranger was a perfect work truck used by many mom and pop shops to haul stuff around and act as service vehicles. All of the old Clark Exterminator trucks were rangers. The O'Reilly's truck that delivers parts to my shop is a ranger. Many landscapers use them around town to haul their lawn equip. My family owns a garage door business and we bought a few before they stopped making them. They are great utility trucks. Sure, the Tacoma is better is almost every aspect, but the ranger was much cheaper and was able to haul quite a bit for a truck its size (with the addition of air bags). I for one was sad to see them go. I wouldn't want to buy one as my personal vehicle, but they were awesome for certain applications.

Is it possible that there were not enough sales of the regular cab over the last few years to justify the expense of tooling it up for gen. 3?
Just wondering, since a company like Toyota will be looking out for it's bottom line...

Front end looks funny. Rest appears to be okay. But then again, it's a Ford.
