I am pretty sure this is a safety feature, since back in the day, chevy had a huge problem with vehicles catching fire b/c people left their phone charging in their car with it turned off....cell phones use Lithium Ion batteries and they are extremely prone to igniting if not properly maintained. also, it would keep your car battery from dying

Do you need to know, or care?

Pardon the language, but JESUS CHRIST, where the hell did you get the balls to shove that thing into reverse over 25mph???

I don't CARE what the manual says, If it had radar that senses a front collision and applies the brakes to avoid collision, no way am I heading towards a stopped car at an intersection at 60mph hoping the freakin' sensors work!!!

Anyone plugged the drain holes on the bed?
    Why not?
I have a bed cover and it works great. The only water coming in the bed is from the drain holes.

Learned something about my Tacoma today that others may be interested in as well.

With the cooler/heater fan in the OFF position, air will still flow into the passenger compartment of the vehicle even in the OFF position. This was annoying to me as I found myself constantly adjusting the temperature knob in an attempt to stay comfortable. What I found was if you press the recirculate button with the cooler/heater fan in the OFF position, all airflow into the passenger compartment will cease.

That's good to know. I know most newer vehicles let air in the vents regardless these days if it's turned off, just won't be at fan speed. Thanks for the tip man. I'll add that now. Also added the reverse while driving tip. Was busy at work all day so I haven't been able to check this thread until I got back from work.

Nearly all vehicles with manual air controls will do this. The air draws from where the hood and glass meet. When driving, air pressure grows at this location and forces air into the lower air pressure of the cab. Only closing the recirculation circuit will stop this air flow.

I didn't see these in your list and I didn't get a chance to read through all 12 pages so I apologize if they are dupes. With the push button start, if you have your key on you, the doors will unlock just by grabbing the driver door handle. Can be set for just driver door or all doors. Also, again with your key on you, touching those 2 indents on the front part of the driver door handle will lock all the doors. No need for the key fob to ever come out of your pocket.

Yeah, it was part of the list and a conversation. Those new to keyless entry seem to be the only ones looking for that info but that makes sense since how else would they know? Having had three keyless entry vehicles now, I couldn't go without at this point unless it was a classic car.

What about a tuner for the 2016?

I'd like to have mine tuned but supposably toyota does not release the codes to do so. Does anyone have any knowledge in this area?

Holding the lock button on the smart key fob and pressing unlock twice disables the communication signal. Pressing the lock or unlock button will re-enable the signal. Good for washing your car near the handle and saving battery life.

Instead of plugging the drain holes use one-way rubber drain valves. Cheap and effective.

I'm glad you all posted this one. My Tacoma and my 2014 Camry both do this. I just thought it was a Toyota thing. Thanks
