I might be getting a job (maybe)

    As some of you know business isn't going very good and over a month and half ago, I sent some resumes responding to some newspaper ads.

    Just last Tuesday i got a call from one of them, its a company specialized on industrial roofing, they are members of the NRCA on the US....

    I got an interview and they told me that they needed a guy with technical construction knowledge, but also with management and sales skills, bilingual, and that i fit the profile.... the vacant im applying for is mostly sales, i would be selling roofing products at a large scale... at least that's what i understood from what the guy told me....

    The thing is that my business has been design and construction over the last 4-5 years, and roofing is quite a new thing, they would send me to the US to learn about the products for 2 weeks, but Im nervous since its a big change of course on my career, the relations i can make are good, but i still don't know.... because of the money they would be investing on me I would need to sign for at least a year and put my other business on hold....

    The paying is not very good at first, I would be making only what i need to pay my bills, since they need a tryout period.....

    I'm a lil confused LOL, sorry for the long read....

    Congrats on the offer, Ed! Especially with the economy being what it is it's great that you've got options. Folks all over are making sacrifices and the reality is that a year at a company isn't all that long.

    You're not alone with the career derailment. A buddy of mine with his own software development company recently started a home improvement and construction business to make ends meet. The computer business is a small shop and the construction is just him, but he's doing what he has to to cover bills. Everything's temporary and you can always get back to doing your own thing once everything starts to recover.

    Change is often a good thing! :thumbsup:

    Just out of curiosity, how do you fill that "bilingual" requirement? Do you speak both Mexican AND Spanish? ;)
