Anyone put a set of 255 tires on their new Taco yet? I'm curious how it looks, if it rubs and if you can get a set of 255/80/17 tires on the stock rims with the stock suspension. I suppose it's important to mention I hope to see it on a TRD OR.

P255/75R17 Firestone Destination A/T. Stock height with TRD Pro wheels. No rubbing at all. I would be willing to bet that they will not rub on stock sport wheels either.

Awesome! That's exactly what I'm looking for (and that's a good looking Taco... if I weren't so sold on Quicksand I'd be going MGM.)

Thanks! I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I didn't want buldging tires sticking way out of the fenders. They are almost perfectly flush without looking too skinny.

That DOES look good. I may rethink my next size after the current tires (265/70/17) wear out.

Thanks for posting hayes....the 255 /75/17.......looks really good sick truck . I am thinking of getting this size tire in BFG KM2 M/T there about a hundred fifty bucks per tire cheaper then 265 70 17 for some reason....i want those rims but might end up with pro comps idk yet...Anyways im glad they dont rub on stock...I kinda like the skinny look i went to vacation in OZ and that Was the look in the outback....im just alittle worried because i drive in soft beach sand a lot but i guess i could just flat them down anyways....well only 2 more months of wait if im lucky

Do you think the mud terrain lugs make it rub ?

Thanks. The 255s are probably cheaper because they are probably P-metric and the 265s are probably LTs. The M/T knobs will likely not be an issue. M/T in a LT tire may rub, but I really doubt it. I would be careful running 255s on a wheel wider than 7 inches, it will make the tire look even more skinny. 7.5 inches might be ok, but I think 8 inches may be too wide.

    • Back Space 4.5 in.
    • maybe these wont fit then there pro comps 5001 rims maybe i should just get 265 70 17 or 265 75 16 km2...the skinny dream might die...lol thanks for your help

I think 255s will look goofy on an 8 inch wheel. 275/70/17 will fit perfect on that wheel. It's the same height as the 255/75/17, just wider. I don't know if they will clear as well as 255s at stock height.

Wider tires will certainly be more likely to rub on a full turn, I ran into that with my 285 tires on my stock height Jeep (and wheels with like 6.5" backspacing.) Lifting things let my wider tires work.

I think the perfect setup is probably the TRD Pro wheels with 255s... I just want to be sure I can get bigger tires on those skinny rims later in life when I put a lift on.

I have BFG's Rugged Terrain on my 09 Sport dbl cab, no issues. I'm going to install them on my 16 dbl cab sport 2wd when it comes in. Should i be concerned about tire rub?
