Fastenal in my area is only open weekdays. It's a shame they can't be open 1/2 day on Saturday so guys like me who work for a living can stop in for a visit.

Seems like these bolts are hard to find. Will 40mm work?

HD did not have it. My small mom & pop hardware store did.
I think 40mm will put the ball too close to the grab bar. Wouldn't it @Palehorse1 ?

The longer bolt is so you can use washers, nuts, spacer or combo of to move the ball out from bar enough to have room for the arm to seat and be able to have some movement for aiming your device towards you. Even doing that the ball is still close to the grab bar. If anything I might try a 60mm bolt to get ball out just a bit further from the pillar.

The only concern is if you run a cable to your device under the A-pillar cover itself. Make certain to have it arranged onto the windshield side so that it will not interfere with your side curtain airbag.

I don't have my truck right now - getting fiberglass fenders fitted and painted - but I will make a point to take a picture for you this weekend.

It could work for some depending on where they want their device to be situated, but the reason behind the use of the 50MM bolt and the specified hardware was so that the ball could be far enough out of the handles bolt cavity that you could mount the arm to it and have enough of the articulation needed to put your device where you want it. Some people are alternating between multiple devices and they will need that flexibility to accommodate different size devices and their mounts. If you know you are only going to use one device and mount you may be able to mock it up and see if 40MM will make a useable solution for you.

Keep the pictures coming guys. Really digging seeing all of the variations that you are coming up with.

Yea after I saw they have a flexible ram can mount I'm going to use it for my phone. Then use his tablet style mount next to passenger seat followed by the pillar mount for my GoPro dash cam

nope, m8 like was stated, you need m6 50mm.....that's why I gave away the 6 extra bolts I found searching my bolt buckets for one for mine. Still dunno where they came from but who cares, came in handy. That is why I hoard extra bolts/nuts/screws.

Got all my extra mounts yesterday.....double socket swivel arm, gopro & cradle for tomtom. Pics later.......

Could not find M6x50mm in our local hardware store lice ACE, Home Depot, Lowes. Even Looked at auto stores which had them only in 40mm or less lengths.o_O I did end up finding them at our Fastenal store, caveat to it all though was I had to purchase a box of 50 as they only sold in bulk?

Needless to say, bought the 50 pack, and if anyone wants I'll snail mail em to ya! Pix of my install to come later.
