Since your pressed for ca$h , like the rest of us , go get the impact , use it for your needs then return it for a refund. ( didn't like it) ...
Then when the cash flow eases up buy the one you want.
I just bought the Millwauke 450 lbs. torque for $129 at CPO outlet.
I bought a refurbished one with no battery.
I've always had good luck with refurbished that come with the factory warranty.
Just throwing out a suggestion on how to work around it.
TW used to have a contribution page of some sorts. People donated money towards someone's need , kind of like a go fund me ....
I chipped in some cash for some guy to get a new engine cuz he hydro locked . I think it was like 2 weeks and he had the cash to get a good used motor !
TW is so awesome at times !

I don't think they are. Just the normal left loosey righty tighty. I tried both ways since I also questioned it but also never read anything about it in the haynes manual.

This is the likely course of action however I frown against people who do this and hate to drop to that level. I am going to buy it and hope to not have to use it. If I do I will weigh the pros and cons heavily to determine if the milwaukee is actually a better choice for me. If that's the case, then I will return it and look for the model that is best for my needs.

I read through some of the issues your having on here and I'm curious which bolt your needing to get out that is giving you fits. Is it the main bolt on the crankshaft pulley?

It holds the sprocket (for timing chain) on the camshaft.

School is out for the weekend. Going to the gym and then ace for the impact. Hoping to get the valve cover off and get tdc with timing marks in a few hours. Rip the camshaft bolt off and then change valve seals Saturday morning/afternoon.

Bought the dewalt xr. 700ft/lbs torque...it's either going to break it loose or rip it out . I asked about returns...as long as it isn't used they will take it. So I told them I wasn't sure it will fit in the space I need it tool. after messing with it a bit I think I like it. It is HUGE but that was expected. I like the fact that the light shines from the battery up instead of directly below the head like the milwaukee.

Ripped the air intake off in record time. Just letting the engine cool before getting the spark plugs and valve cover out.

Back to where I was in a little under a hour and a half. Problem...can't get the impact socket and wrench on. I had to use a super shallow regular socket to get it last time. Big ass wrench and hammer time?

An impact would make short work of that bolt if you could get it on there... I'd try all kinds of swivel heads and extensions thru the bumper before I put the impact down haha

Use the socket and the breaker bar. If that can't get it. Idk what will. Slip some tubing to the handle to make it longer for even more leverage.

Trying to find that socket. Not sure where I put it or where it came from...

Might have to wait for the gal to get off work and drive me around . So close but so far away!

Man, I am trying haha. How well would one of those crow foot wrench sockets hold up to a breaker bar?

No different than a normal wrench. Not a fan of open ended wrenches on stuff like this. Good way to round out the bolt head.

    Agreed!

6 point box end wrench and a 1 1/4 EMT conduit as extension. You don't want to round that off!

Hmm, looking at it...I need a tiny bit of room to get the impact socket on. Any reason I can't put that socket in a vice and take a grinder to it?

They are forged generally, so not gonna do it any favors..but not terrible long as you don't get too carried away. how much we talking?

Probably less than a quarter inch. It just needs a touch off to allow it to slip onto the bolt...once on the joint adapted would easily clear the timing cover. If I could just get the damn thing on it at this length I wouldn't have trouble. Lizzy gets off work at 5, so I guess I will wait till then and take the socket to the store to see if there isn't a shorter one.

I know you are not suppose to use anything but impact sockets on with an impact wrench but if I can get a normal socket to fit I might give it a go.

Any way to finagle the impact in there with some kind of swivel extensions like Marc said?

If it was shorter, yes. Once on the bolt I believe I can attach the joint and put the drill to work.
