You've got it, filling is straight forward but I'm still brainstorming how I'd like handle the deflation system. One idea was to run a series of solenoids attached to different psi regulators with an in cab rotary encoder to switch between them. But unless I opened multiple relief valves at the same time I expect deflation would be bottle necked. Currently I'm reading up on different valve options. It would be nice not being stuck with preset psi valves and instead have something I could adjust. Perhaps attach a stepper motor to a regulator? There are many ways to skin this cat, looking forward to order some junk and do some mock ups.

There's plenty of options it's just a matter of cost haha. The cheapest would just be a solenoid, open, and monitor the gauge, then close it when needed.

Be interesting to see what you come up with though!

So, after reading the last few pages I feel like I'm missing something obvious. What would I be lacking, endangering or overlooking if I depended on a VIAIR 300P for filling up my 265 R17 tires after deflating to, say, 12psi while out with you guys?

No no, I don't have it yet, I wish. But that's what I'm planning to buy once the funds are available. I just suddenly feel like I'm looking at the wrong stuff.

In my experience (single ARB specific for lockers only and the BEAST 5.65), if I was at 12PSI and had to use the ARB single, it would take 45 minutes to inflate 4 255/80/17 to 32 PSI.
    Last three weekends;
OL group @ 17 PSI = >35 minutes with the ARB single to 32 PSI and soaked. Wife asked "WTF is taking so long?!?!?"
TW group @ 12 PSI = ±10 minutes with the BEAST to 32 PSI and not soaked.
OL group @ 7 PSI = ±12 minutes with the BEAST to 32 PSI and not soaked.

I would be best for you to see what others have, ask opinions and watch how quickly/slowly the unit inflates.
Many will agree that the last thing you want to do after a great day of wheelin' is to wait another 45 minutes to inflate your tires or someone else's...

    Are floor mats a mod?
My 300 usually took about 3-4 min per tire to go from 12lbs to 35lbs on 265/70/17s don't know with my new 32 7/8 ( lest I call em 33s and Brian gets out his tape) tires but prob not much more.. Did fine but gets HOT. I heard pretty much all portables get pretty hot tho.

As for focusing on the wrong things.. air is often over looked. My priorities with this truck were a mid level lift. Good tires. Armor. And then performance parts. Then start over with more of everything
.. I forgot simple things like a cb and now I'm planning my air system. Things come up that you may not have thought of all the time. This thread is great for that and this Web site in general.

When I measure things, they typically get stated as having a few extra inches.

    ... wait. Nevermind.

Got tired of hitting my steering wheel with my knife. 20$ for 200 ft of paracord works better than a steering wheel cover.

Just went out and measured them at 32 1/4 +\-, so I was 1/2" off. ( was thinking of the 285s)
    I got new KO2s. 275/70/17s. E's. The ole AT2s went to a new home.
I didn't want to do the CMC, so I didn't get the 285s. Still had to do some trimming tho.

Got my hair cut today, and she took quite a bit more than 1" off. I said " your boyfriends been lying to you". She said " Wut?" I said never mind...

Superflow MV50... All four tires was able to go 35psi to 7 psi in just under 5 minutes, and back up to 35 in just under 13. $90 compressor, $130 hose and fittings.

Actually, those times were with no tank. I used the pancake the first time just to prove the process, then I switched to the little pump to time it.
