Military Posers On Halloween

Since I'm next to Shreveport, every once in a while I'll go out and see (yeah, you know.) wearing the dress looking button up shirts with all kinds of jacked up stuff everywhere. EGAs pointing the wrong direction (such a peev for me) and upside down rank that barely resembles a real rank.

Seeing this makes me so angry. Yeah, I know I'm "just a reservist" but damn, that shit just isn't right. Disrespect to the men and women that earned it. They are such assholes.

 

So I was at a club Halloween and saw a guy in a flight suite and with stripes and a flight cap.. in the AF you dont have stripes on a flight suite.. if the guy did have weight on me and was taller i would have taken him out..

 

It could be both reasons but I didn't ask. I agree it's a bit weird to go clubbing in cammies but from what I understand, the Army allows it? But I can understand especially as an NCO, you gotta set the example for juniors. He acted very professional though.

I don't care about civilian wearing bits and pieces of military clothing. It's the ones that have the nametapes and rank that pisses me off the most.

Like that douchebag I was telling you guys about at the surplus store wearing Army ACU w/nametapes sticking his arm out the window in his car, leaving the store and the one at the club with SGTMAJ chevron on.

I like the goose & flight suit one, that's awesome lol.

 

Couldn't agree more with your posts. Phonies are everywher...I was on the Harlem Local out of NYC a few years ago and a guy next to me at the door before our stop, had a hat on with all kinds of patriotic doodads including a USMC emblem. I asked him about his service and he gave some B.S. answer about serving in the 1st Marine Division at Khe Sanh (elements of the 3d and 5th Divisions served there, not the 1st), officers training at Parris Island (!), etc. Having served 28 years in the USMC, I told him he was full of shit...the guy was speechless and ran off the train as we came to our stop...the other commuters aroud us applauded!

I think its not bad to wear BDU's for hunting or paintballing, but when people wear the Dress Blues or any Dress uniform they are crossing the line. I lol'd with that poser in the dress blues with those pants that didn't even fit him

 

Times have changed.
Back during the draft days, most of us couldn't wait to get out of our uniforms.

 

Not trying to hijack the thread but I agree with that 100%. Every time I've been in NYC with friends the cops there were the greatest and couldn't do enough for us when they found out we were there on leave.

The city is great also. I remember going there not long after 911 and with a military ID you could ride the subway for free. The Yankees would also let you in the stadium for free with an ID.

 

Just to Quote the Reg, sorry it happens every now and then. The only time a Soldier, US Army, is allowed to drink in uniform is at a unit/service connected function, or at a facility on post that serves. We are not allowed to drink in uniform off of post.

There you go straight from the reg. If any non military person sees this occur I sure and the heck would say something to the person.

 

Yea we aren't supposed to drink in uniform but that's a big grey area for me. Quite a few times in airports and restaurants I've had people offer to buy me a beer and I sure as hell ain't going to be rude by saying no.

Wow, that was a quick promotion, from E7 to O-5. He should have just went ahead and gone Full Bird and upgraded from the Navy Cross to the Medal of Honor.

yeah man this is kinda retarded of these guys to dress up like this. I know when i was coming home for xmas exodus from ft gordon i stopped with my dad in the middle of nowhere in ga and everyone was like wow, when i was walkin around in my acu. i guess if your in a area with little to no military personel you get treated differently and i learned first hand as they offered to do everything for me lol it was a shock.

but for guys wearing uniforms and stuff and never being in the service its kinda like wtf. if you want to wear the uniform that badly then do it the right way and sign up for 4 years or whatver the minimum is and earn it the right way.

btw the uniform isnt even that comfy lol

I haven't ever came across anyone like this though I've heard about it. I know there is a lot of honor in being military that many people would love to have in their workplaces. I think maybe the guy in the airport just didn't get enough attention from his father or something of the sort. But im glad someone ripped him a new one I respect the Marines for that ability alone. We need some of it in the Navy that's for sure.

 

Ahh the beauty of America......where people have the freedom of speech and to wear whatever they want. Isn't that what you are protecting our country for? Rights and freedom. While I would definitely thank any military service men for defending our country, i would have to say that everyone is equal in this country and it just sounds like you guys need to get off your military high horse. We thank you for your service and sacrifice, but it doesn't allow you the ability to say what others can wear or not wear or make you more important than another person.

Impersonation is one thing, but to get all worked up because a civilian is wearing fatigues for self expression........sheesh.
