Last week of December, between Christmas and New Year's, somebody decided to steal 2 of my 3 Vision X 8500 HID's off the front of my truck. They've been there since Feb 2011 without anybody bothering them. I was soooo pissed!!

I unbolted the 3rd light before it could get taken too (I wasn't able to park in my garage during this time, new house, garage full of stuff......) Filed a police report, with no expectation of catching the thief or recovering the lights, but to get a report in the system anyway.

On a whim, I called my insurance agent to get his opinion it. He said to file a claim, since the lights cost so much. Also, since it would be covered under "Comprehensive", my rates wouldn't be affected. Insurance company sure took their time on the claim (4 weeks) but finally issued me a check yesterday. Called up my "light guy" and got a new order placed.

Went with a little more horsepower on the new lights! 2 Vision X 8.7" 90W LED Light Cannons in the middle, flanked by 2 Vision X 6.7" 50W LED Light Cannons on the sides. The 50W will get "euro" beam covers. Pretty stoked!

Pictures below are the previous setup, and the new set lights "mocked up". Hope to get to that project this weekend. I'm also waiting for some "security nuts" from Vision X to make the new lights harder to swipe......

Thieves are the one and only reason I installed my lights behind the grille. Are you gonna use security fasteners this time around?

Also, any output shots? I imagine those lights got some power!

Yep, I will be using security fasteners. I should wire up a "Road Warrior Surprise" too.....[boom!]

No shots with them hooked up yet, that was just a quick mockup shot. I need to check my existing wiring to see if it will handle the load (105W before on 3 separate relays, 280W now....)

I plan to get out my Nikon and set the exposure controls to full manual and get some night shots as soon as I can. Just need to get them mounted up and wired up.

The silver lining in all of this is:
    1.) I have Comprehensive insurance with a $100 deducticble
2.) They covered the theft and reimbursed me for the full replacement value of the 8500's
3.) I was able to get an awesome deal on the lights through connections, and because why I needed to replace them.
4.) I've now got some of the most bad-ass LED lights on the planet.

So while I still want to catch the bastard that stole my lights and make them pay dearly, I came out pretty good all things considered. I still check Craigslist every day though to see if the lights wind up getting listed.......

Which reminds me, I've got one Vision X 8500 HID Euro Flood for sale! Probably should get a solid listing up in the marketplace. But who wants just one light?

I am in love with anything vision x. Unfortunately I cannot afford em. Ha. I currently have all clones. Including some of the 4.5" cannon clones. Even though they use crees, theyre still sweet and happy with them. But nothing compared to the real deals I'm sure. I'm waiting to see some output shots of their new line of xpr bars.

Also have vision x Evo Prime clones. A 42",20", two 8". Output is just amazing. If I ever get rich, it'll be all new vision x.:D

Looks like the new rig will be awesome man! I HATE thieves. Just last night my mom texted me and said someone stole the spare tire off the back of her jeep - unbelievable. Feel for ya.

Last year I parked my Taco at a Target and went inside. They didn't have what I was looking for so I went back outside pretty quickly. There I saw two Meth-head-looking dudes standing in front of my truck and staring at my aux LEDs. I walked on by to see what they were doing and then thought "Self, those fooking thieves will damage your truck trying to remove your lights." So I turned around and went to my truck just as one of them was emerging from their 1978, fully rusted, Pontiac shit-wagon with a pair of pliers in his hand. Walked up to my truck and stood there, with that look Clint Eastwood gave in the movie Unforgiven. They jumped in their rust-bucket and drove off.

So, I now mount ALL aux lights safely and securely behind the grille.
