    Are there any aftermarket choices for the rear diff. Or just salvage yard and new

    Carrier for the ring gear? Is yours a locking diff or the open diff? They are different sizes.
    Detroit and ARB if you want to lock it (for the non locking diff). Otherwise stock carrier from a junkyard afaik.

    Yes the carrier is rusting away . the truck only has 74000 mile so it's still good .
    Frame and tire carrier are new so it should be worth fixing got stuck once I think it is a locking rear how do I tell ?

    Rusting? I think maybe you mean the entire axle housing. Junkyard item if that's the case.
    Or are you talking about the center drop out section? We might need a pic to get you on the right track.
    If it's a factory locking diff, there should be a RR DIFF LOCK button on the dash, usually on the left of the steering wheel.
    There will also be a conglomeration of electric motor, wires, etc, mounted on the rear diff by the pinion.

    If it's the non locking, you wont have any of that. Just straight up rear axle.

    Show us a picture. I just ordered a differential cover from barnes4x4 and a local welder is welding it for a hundred bucks

    Ok it is a stright up rear . the housing is still good the ring and pinion housing is rusting .
    The fins that use to be there are about gone . I will get a picture
