I happen to love my '16 SR

Ive only owned first gens, but Ive driven second gens (though very limited), and I like the overall feel of the third gen a lot better.

Too poor to list anything interesting.
Dealers do this a lot. They're doing it to get more money out of you. If you're happy with your current truck, I'd stick with what you have. You can always trade later.

I am sure the dealer is only trying to help you get a new truck because they want you to be even happier in the future. They are not thinking about $ at all. I have never heard of this happening with a dealer ever. I bet they have meetings where they sit around thinking of ways to make customers happier and how to save them $. Dealerships got your back bro.

I didn't read all the replies. If you want and can easily afford the '16, then go for it. Only you know your situation. That said, the longer you keep any vehicle, the better off your finances will be.

The first problem is the lease. It's the same old argument similar to the idea of not paying off a house so that you get the write off. So I'm gonna pay several thousand dollars more a year to save a few hundred in a tax write off? Makes no sense unless it's a company car and they are paying your lease. If you have an accountant, you probably make decent cash. If you make decent cash, your probably somewhat intelligent. If your somewhat intelligent then you should understand that a lease was designed to get people into cars that can't afford them, so they stick you at the end of the lease. When it's all said and done, you have no asset unless you pay more than it's worth. Your in one already, nothing can be done about that. But don't make your situation worse by prolonging the flogging. Stick with what you got and move on.

Phishing attempt. They do this to everone. I still get shit in the mail for my two previous cars about them wanting to buy it because there's high demand for them.

Actually I feel it's smarter to lease do to how bad most vehicle depreciate, however buying a Tacoma is a pretty smart move as they are one of the few that have the best resale value. Houses tend to appreciate and vehicles depreciate, unless you have a classic that everyone wants. Most cars and trucks on the road today will never be a "classic" or ever increase their value, and with all the computers and stuff these days will be too expensive to keep for 20+ years as most of that stuff will not last that long.

With that being said everyone has a different opinion and view on things. Do what you want and what makes sense for you

    none so far!
Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll drop by just to have a look but like I said, I'm not in any rush to give up my '14. I just wanted to hear if people think going from the 2nd gen to 3rd gen is a enough of an improvement. I highly doubt they'll offer me a worthwhile deal on the current truck so I'm not expecting to drive home with a shiny new truck anytime soon.

Maybe you'll run into one of those hot and ready cash buyers looking for your truck when you're there. Make the deal in the parking lot and take a cab to the bank!

Well, I have a saying: Drive it 'til the wheels fall off. That means don't trade. And besides, you can get more cash from another person than you can from a dealer trade-in. I've never leased before, so it's kind of uncharted territory for me. Anyways just my 2 cents on how you can save 2 cents.

I would be wicked pissed if my dealership cold called me with something. Leave me alone, if I want something I'll come to you.

No offense but why would you give up a more functional truck (bigger bed and 4wd) for a a less functional truck with some gizmos (DCSB 2wd). As long as your happy I guess.

better mpg and honestly for the amount of off roading i do it wasnt feasibly to keep the 4x4 and i can do every thing i did in the 4x4 with the 4x2 if i lock my diff. im pretty decent at handling myself while off roading.
