I haven't even tried to use the hitch yet, I need to take it out of the box and check it out.

I should be getting my new Tacoma this week. Your post will help tremendously. I'm going to keep a copy handy, it will help my understand my truck very much. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Thanks again, Tom

Didn't want my iPhone charge cable to just dangle around the dash so I was going to drill a hole in the center console and run the cable down the console and near the emergency brake....but there was already a hole for me!! Just remove the fabric in the console and you have two holes to choose from. Oh yeah. Make the cable much cleaner and not in the way.

I don't know if defrost by itself works with recirculate, I used the bottom vents + defrost option and it let me recirculate.

    Thanks for this post!

I discovered something the other morning - I like to roll down my driveway in neutral and start the truck out on the street as I leave very early am for work and dont want to wake up my daughter:

-hit start button twice for accessory mode
-step on brake and shift into N
    -roll down the driveway
-step on brake and push start button when ready
    -baby stays asleep!

If The Woman is using the Qi charger for her phone, is it OK to have other electronics on the shelf? I have an iPhone and also put my key fob in the Qi charging cubby, but don't want them to get damaged when she turns on the Qi charger...

As long as your other electronics aren't affected by a magnetic field they should be fine. I'd guess it's about the strength of a fridge magnet alternating polarity. I wouldn't put my wallet on it, may screw up the magnetic strips on your cards.

No, it's not a magnetic field. There is a polarity but it's not enough to demag anything. It's just a passive field

I disabled the seat belt dings and changed the turn signal momentary to 6 (default 3) using Techstream. I still need to play with this a bit to see if any other dealer-only options are worthwhile changing or not. Before all the flames come about the seat belts, the only time we don't use them is going to the mailbox or driving around ranch roads. BTW, techstream works fine with Windows 10 64 bit.

Fine... Someone had to get technical. Yes you are correct it is not a magnetic field, it's an electromagnetic field. It won't damage anything, but I still wouldn't put my wallet on it when it's turned on.

    Ouch guys. Just stop.

It most certainly is a magnetic field. It's an alternating magnetic field generated by an electric coil (therefore "electromagnetic"). That's how inductive energy transfer works in anything from a transformer to an inductive range. I would guess the Qi charging uses a high frequency (relative to household AC) but it's still an alternating field.

I personally wouldn't put my wallet on there when it's charging, but I don't think it's a given that there will be a problem. I just don't know enough about the specifics to make that call.

Open fire: I'm open to learn something new and be proven wrong.

Touché and ditto, now if only I could find a decent case to utilize Qi charging with my iPhone.

I'm right there with you on the case. I'm considering buying one of the relatively inexpensive coils that go between the phone and standard case and see how it works and how I like that feature. Though, my perfect solution would be a phone holder mounted on the dash that had a wireless charger built in.

This is an awesome thread and I'm sorry for veering a bit off-topic.
