By no means am i a AB expert. Ive been there once. But I'll tell you what we experienced. A good meet spot depends on what trail and what camp ground.

When I went in Dec. we free camped in Fish Creek. There's a huge staging area right off the paved road and a reserved camp ground with restroom about 5 mins down the dirt road. Where we camp was deeper in maybe 30-45mins or more on a dirt 2wd friendly road. At that area it's 100% free camping with the restrictions of one vehicle length off the road.

There's 2 ways to get down there. 405/5 or 91/15. Both have its issues traffic wise but this decision will dictate the meet location.

As mentioned above about my trip in Dec. we took the 91/15 fwy route. We left on a Monday in morning work traffic. Half the crew stays in the OC (HB) and the others in the South Bay Harbor Area, Carson, Gardena, Torrance. We all meet at 7am off the 91 fwy at Weir Canyon Road (Anaheim Hills area).

We had about 7-8 kids ages 8-17 with us so we took the road into Borrego Springs and stopped at the Visitors Center to educate them on present and past wild life. We cruised around town to all the metal art work displayed throughout the city.

Anyways...starting at 7am, visitors center stop, and the dirt road drive in took all day. By the time we found a camp spot it was dusk with just enough light to set up camp and get the fire going.

The next day we packed lunch and went to Truckhaven near Ocotillo and offroaded they whole day. Probably stayed a bit to late cause it was already dark and still had to drive 1hr to camp.

Note: We made use of the restrooms at the reserve campground every pass in or out of Fish Creek.

Yup definitely cause it's right around the corner.

I am in desperate need of help in trying to get my compressor to work . I got it all wired out. Broke out to volt meter. It says I'm getting power. But I think the issue lies in the switch

If you turn the switch on and is there a contact point on the otherside of the switch to use your meter and see if power is coming out when closing(turning on) the switch?

I have a feeling i will not be staying with you guys. Im going to bring my ohv stuff driving all that way i would be stupid not to. Unfortunately ohv is not allowed there in fish canyon.
Oh well.

 

No luck with power coming out the switch? No luck finding a contact point after the switch?
