Your truck is so clean. Pretty rad to live where you do as well. Winter is awesome in the desert.

If you live in Vegas and want to get away, I suggest Carpenter Canyon. Just head towards Pahrump.

I went off roading today. Made a stupid mistake and got hung up on my crossmember with spotty cell service and no one with me. Naturally, no pictures of my noobness.

You're not dead yet, so it turned out OK. Assuming the truck is fine, then it was just a character-building experience. On my recent trip to Death Valley, I had 3 hits on the bottom of the truck. I didn't get stopped, but I did put some scrape marks in the frame, exhaust, and a lower control arm: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/rock-vs-lower-control-arm.411486/.

I've done plenty of off-roading by myself in the past. These days, I'm not as hardy as I once was and I have a lot more responsibility so I rarely go alone. I also have a DeLorme inReach so I can "press-button for help" from anywhere in the world. I can also use it to text my wife that I'll be late or handle other minor communication needs.

The biggest failure here is that you didn't get pictures. For this, you should be disappointed in yourself and endeavor to do better in the future.

I can't say I agree that I should be disappointed in myself for not taking photos but you're right, I did learn a few things. No injury here and looks like I didn't sustain any damage which was my biggest fear. I like the idea a Delorme inReach. Might have to check that out.

Side note, I checked out your video. I had a slight incident with my lca as well. Scraped it lightly against a rock. Checked it out and didn't have a scrape on it. They do seem pretty tough.

I was waiting for a tow using roadside assistance when a guy in a truck came up on me. Hooked my recovery strap to him and he pulled me off the mound.

Is this a trail that can be done solo? In case I want to get away on my own without back up?

A coworker and I ventured out onto a power line trail today. It turned out to be more muddy than we had planned for. We had a couple moments where we questioned how this day was going to end up but the trucks have yet to leave us walking. The Prius tires that came on my OR surprised me. They did much better than I expected.

The MTS function seems to work well. I traded my '13 FJ Cruiser Trails Team for this and it also had Crawl Control. I have yet to find myself in a position where it was a benefit.
