If you ever want one or more students, let me know. I've been hemming and hawing about getting dive master so I can take scouts diving. I did SCUBA with the Navy way back when, but never went above basic OW on the civilian side...

I have a pair of Ford Raptor replica steps that I attempt to retrofit them onto my DCSB.

They WILL make their way onto my truck at some point... just not right now :-/

I can certify DMs, however I would need to get my insurance up to date for teaching which is over $600 for the year so I havent done much teaching in the last few years since I dont work for the dive shop anymore where they paid my insurance.

In order to make it worthwhile for me to get insurance I gotta have at least 5-10 students over the year unfortunately.

If you dont mind being taught in full classes (where you get minimal fast tracked style training) Sport Chalet does it really cheap but you get what you pay for..

I assume you dont have any PADI cert for OW, right?

Just had a pulley out of the blue this morning start screaming. Really hard to tell which one it is though, does not kick in until around 1k RPM's and then goes silent when I let off the gas. Anyone else run into this ? Any ideas for trouble shooting it ?

Rock auto was my choice no more then $50 or so for both. Loosen belt off of them and then unbolt and bolt back in. Did it myself in about an hour.

From what I am reading it is all over the board, a lot of people saying idler pulleys, others saying it was their tensioner pulley and then some folks saying it turned out to be the water pump...

If I pulled the belt off to trouble shoot it I should be able to spin the pulleys by hand and feel the bearings to narrow it down right ?

If you take the belt off either use an engineers stethoscope or the poor mans version of a screw driver and turn by hand and listen to them. Should growl or sound different.

water pump noise would also rev with the engine and quiet when you let off the gas right ?

Think so. Not sure on that one. Thought when water pumps went out they usually leak anti-freeze from the weep hole?

I'm going to check it in the morning, I had my coolant flushed a few weeks ago and then went on a road trip to Tahoe last week and noticed that sweet coolant smell when I stopped for gas each time. I have never noticed that before with my truck so I am kind of doing 2+2 with the coolant smell and the noise now...it would make sense that coolant was dripping and cooking on the hot block making that smell.

I'm actually NAUI OW. I've really been thinking hard which way to go for AOW and beyond.

I think the coolant was coming from the overflow tank on the radiator, when I had the system flushed they over filled it so on a long drive it was expanding and overfilling the overflow res. I didn't have time to pull the belt and any pulleys today to check bearings so still kind of at square one trying to track down the noise.

Last I checked it should be as simple as doing AOW to go from NAUI to PADI. Thanks!

Does anyone have a local source for spray-in bed liner that's a decent deal? I volunteer at the local scout camp and we are looking at coating all of our shooting benches with something that won't hold on to lead like industrial carpet does.
