    If those Quebec mayors had said they were personally going to reduce their consumption of oil to make the planet a better place they would have had some credibility. But what they said was it was too risky (pipe-line) and they didnt want oil tankers hauling Alberta crude in the St Laurence River. What they didn't say was that a small Quebec town was incinerated by a train load of American fracked oil. Nor that plenty of tankers ply the St Laurence right now moving conflict oil to Quebec refineries. What they didn't say is Quebec needs 10 billion with a B of transfer money too keep them floating. What they didn't say was buying all that off shore oil devalues our dollar further as it is money exported. And what they didn't say was since this was about investing in a carbon fuel that increases our dependence so they would stop building Bombardia aircraft as they too contribute to the same dependency. What they didn't say is we are complete hypocrites and no one gave them a mandate to do any of this.
    Just saying.

    Well the jibs and taxes received contribute plenty to the local benefit. 5000 families in the OK alone got paychecks from Alberta oil sands jobs.

    Montreal just had to spill a few billion with a B litres of raw sewage into this same river a few weeks ago. Victoria did the same into the pristine BC coastal waters forever, until just recently.
