Just went in for my first 5000 service and they told me my truck uses conventional 5w30. Anybody else with a 15 have conventional oil?

Yeah, conventional 5W-30 is no issue

'15 4.0 came with 5w-30 dino juice from the factory. But you can use whatever "flavor" of 5w-30 oil you like....conventional, blend, or synthetic.

That is what the owners manual specifies for the 4.0 V6. OK to use synthetic and many here do. I will change to syn after my free oil changes are done.

Same boat here but I was under the impression that it came with synthetic. Not a big deal I will switch when I run out of free oil changes. I was just surprised when they told me it was conventional.

The 2.7 has come from the factory with synthetic 0w-20 for a few years now. And the new 2GR 3.5 V6 in the '16 does as well. But the old 1GR 4.0 never did. Perfectly ok to use synthetic 5w-30 or 0w-30 though.
