I started off having the JBL system cut out and finally die on me. The the truck its self wouldn't keep the battery charged and would drain the battery in a day. I ended up taking the truck to a dealer and a couple shops where I live and no one could tell me what was wrong or what to do to fix the issue. And having an unreliable rig is something I can't stand so she had to go.

I'm not sure how people are getting much worse fuel economy? A guy at my work has a 2016 trd sport and he can't get over 17mpg. I don't think it's the tacoma, I think it has a lot to do with the drivers heavy foot.

That's my guess. The new engine seems to really reward light footed driving. I drive like an old man, and I get the mileage to show for it. lol

The only time I don't get good mileage is my super short commute to work. It's like 1.5 miles (so the engine doesn't warm up), super hilly, tons of lights and the speed limit is only 30-35 most of the way.

I've noticed light footed driving is hands down where you get the best. I'm not afraid to drive like an "old man" to get good gas mileage. But then again I wasn't looking for a Prius when I got my truck. With all the hunting I do its nice to have a truck that gets 22+ MPG. But sometimes I like to wear my heavy shoes and the gas mileage dorps in a hurry.

I've found that if I can get the truck up to top gear and then back off on the gas peddle and let the RPMS drop down and hang around the 1500-1700 mark and keep her from 60-65 mph. She's very rewarding in fuel economy. At least that's the sweet spot for Lil Red.

Mhm, I've found it's all about getting it to the top gear and keeping it there as much as possible. I can cruise around town/city at around 45, and it's only doing like 1100rpm.

It's not you, many factors you don't even think about factor in. Altitude and climate play a part as well as inclines. Every little thing you could just about imagine.

    Very nice truck, congrats!

I've never checked the mileage on my FJ. I simply don't want to know!

Congrats on the new truck! Is your truck 4wd or 2wd? That is pretty good mpg...especially if your truck is 4wd.

Thank you! I really enjoyed my FJ but the mileage killed me if I wanted to go on any trips or hunting.

I'm running my psi at 33-35. And she does great for me.

Nah its not even if you have the money, why buy a 4X4 if one does not need a 4x4?
I have the money and have absolutely no reason to buy a 4x4 . None Nada....Have never needed a 4x4 except for 20 years ago when I actually spent a lot of time off road. I am over that and the 2WD is plenty and down here sells faster, My dealer orders two 4x4s for every 10 2WDs.

Well living In central Oregon we get a good amount of snow in the winter time and with all the hunting I do I'd rather have a 4 wheel drive and never need it then wish that one time I had it when I needed it. But that's just my personal preference. I would never buy a 2 wheel drive rig. But that's just me and with my life style and what I do I.

I would buy a 4x4 today if I lived with snow as well .... if only for resale value and ease of sale.

But I drove in snow for years as a kid and and as an adult one Winter in Branson MO. Never had anything but rear wheel 2WD cars and SUVS. They did fine after the roads were clear.

Not really. I paid cash for my Prerunner and could have gotten a 4x4 but I thought it would be pretty stupid to pay $4000 extra for something that I don't need.
That's a nice truck you've got there OP!
