Well, after 3 solid days of research, and a tight pocket book, I turned the key on a Kenwood DDX512 and a Kenwood KNA-G510 Add-on GPS Navigation! It has all the fun stuff i need and the ability to upgrade components as I can. Oh! the HU is Refurbitched

    It had really great reviews.

Out the door with the Nav, install kit and faceplate and shippng---> $549

Now, I need to find a good deal on a Steering wheel control adapter and Bluetooth kit...

Anyone know where a good place to look?

IM so jealous. I want an aftermarket headunit so bad since Im having issues with my stock '09 unit but cant justify spending the money on it yet when I still wanna do some suspension upgrades. Nice headunit though!

Some people say to save it so when you sell the car it can go with it??

I'm going to SLEDGE Hammer that thing into a million piecs like Cash-4-Clunkers!

I would never make anyone listen to that thing again!

I didn't know if I should tell you cause it sounds soo silly, but one of the reason I went with the DDX512 was so the Buttons can be colored RED or Amber to match interior

The DNX 5140 & 6140 and all others except the most exspensive Kenwood all had BLUE lit Buttons?? Whats up with that? With all the Blue I felt like i was in a Honda Civic Base model...lol I actually had the SI and all the dash and Nav was red...Red sooo set's the mood...lmao

and!, so if any of the pieces break, I don't have to send in the entire unit to be fixed...Of course, if the HU breaks then I can sell the individual pieces on Ebay and it's not a total loss...

    And...!

it had the pre-amp outputs and sub out.

And, getting the NAVIGATION UNIT SEPERATELY, means there is no disk...It's Like a Flash drive with everything stored on it.. I guess like RAM. So it's super fast like the more expensive models...

and...!lol Because it had the Dern KNOB ! I had to have the knob..I guess im old school.

I do want to go component Speakers. The guy at Crutchfield said this was a good deal on speakers Infinity reference?

    COST: $199-80 = $119

    are these any good?

^They're OK, not top of the line Infinity but OK. I personally would buy them for that price but I am a long time Infinity fan so I'm a little biased, lol.

i was thinking about ordering either the ddx512 or the dnx5120 as well. Is the add-on kenwood gps also a garmin based unit? I like the idea of being able to play a cd while using the GPS as well. On the 5120 do you have to leave the navi disk in at all times when you use the GPS? How are map upgrades handled on these units?

Is the faceplate on that unit removable? Or, are they removable on any double dins? I'm just worried about some thief smashing my window when I'm out parked somewhere

The DDX512 comes with a Security code only. It means that once you put in code if someone takes the unit it will not work...

Now, How do we tell the Thieves that our Unit has this feature...lol

    Anyone here like Focal Speakers?

i have that same unit. pics in my profile of how it is installed. looks good to me, but one of the things i dont like about it is when reading your ipod on it, after you go into an artist there is no "all" option like there is on the ipod itself. you have to view through each album sepreatley

My DNX6140 was able to change the color of the buttons to match the interior panels, all kinds of colors.
