that magnaflow is only a cat back system, which is cool of the problem lies in the section from the catalytic converter back, a full exhuast from the manifold headers back would be even better. Although it is smarter and cheaper to stab it in a step wise approach eliminating small sections at a time. I would hope and I imagine that the toyota engineers are looking into he exhaust system with complicated instruments and testing it as a possible culprit but that might be a stretch.

I just have 150 miles on my Tacoma and no vibration. Did anyone feel the vibration after a certain mileage??? Just wondering if I dodged a bullet or if I should be on the lookout

My guess is it's a resonance and not a vibration. Hard to say what the fix will be - exhaust plumbing, engine mounts, trans mounts, intake changes, programming, etc. Could be adding some sort of a deadener to the exhaust system to cancel out some of the resonance if it ends up being something with the exhaust system. I can feel a little bit of it in my truck at certain RPM's, but it's not something which bothers me because it's extremely mild. I can just imagine if it was amplified more as others have experienced that it would be annoying.

Do not look for it. Just drive your truck and enjoy it man. I repeat, do not be on the look out for it

Agreed. Don't worry about it unless it happens. Don't look for it because if you're not feeling it, you won't find it by looking. That's how prominent it would be if it had it. Just drive and enjoy.

Why didn't they identify the problem before production and do this?

Could very well be a production issue. Where there is little room for error. Because some trucks don't exhibit this issue. But In the end hope it is resolved.

Doobiewah do you have any idea what percent of the 4x4 2016 tacomas have this problem?

Wound up taking my Limited to the dealer last week for this. Sure enough, they compared to another truck, found “similar” behavior, and said they’d document it to my case. That’s fine. Expected that. I just wanted to cover my bases and have them document the severity and resonating through the interior components with the case I opened. What I didn’t expect was what happened this evening. I got a phone call from a case manager following up on my complaint and dealer visit. She called to inform me that she spoke with the dealer’s service department and the region's field tech. They documented my concerns over this issue and forwarded them to the engineers who built the Tacoma. According to the case manager, the field specialist advised that “the truck is operating as designed by Toyota at this time.” But whoever this regional tech is, he never even drove my truck!? I told her this and asked how a technician who, to my knowledge never even drove my truck, and Toyota, consider a vibration so prominent that my dash and doors rattle as “operating as designed?" That started a comical barrage of word salad from this case manager. We go back and forth and I ask her to put herself in my shoes and ask whether this is acceptable in a 40K truck? She says, “well it’s so hard to put myself in your shoes because what’s acceptable to me may not be to your liking.” Blood pressure rising. I said no reasonable person would consider what my truck does as acceptable or “to their liking.” I ask directly if Toyota plans to fix this? Response: “We have forwarded your concerns to engineering. The truck is operating as designed by Toyota. I apologize that you do not like it.” This line got my BP to unhealthy levels. Then she said, “it would help me if you would be clear about what you want as a customer? We’re here to listen and talk through all options.” Ok. “Here’s what I want as a customer: either (1) please fix the issue, (2) please tell me you’re working towards fixing the issue, or (3) please help me get into a truck that doesn’t have the problem.” Response: “The truck is operating within factory specifications at this time. A dealer may be able to work with you on a different vehicle, but the decision is ultimately yours.” I ask what my next options are now, because it sounds like I’m being brushed off. She simply repeated, “I am sorry but the truck is operating as designed” etc. etc. etc. I couldn’t take it anymore. I never expected this callback and response, so I just thanked her for the time and hung up. Not exaggerating when I say this thing is vibrating itself to hell and it’s not some minor little thing that someone just doesn’t notice until it’s pointed out to them. I am positive others would notice this, but many don't. I truly don't believe every truck has it this bad. I really wanted this Limited and planned to have it carry me through my retirement years. Not at all what I expected. I’m at a loss here.

Damn. Sorry brother. I wish you luck in your resolution. Mine is not nearly that bad. Nothing vibrates but my feet. Wish we could help.

Thanks brother. Appreciate it. I know you guys would help if you could. Seems like a tight group here and maybe someone will figure something out that we can all use. I lost count of the number of cars and trucks I've bought over the last 40 years between the wife, kids, and me (including the Tundra, Highlanders, Corollas in the last decade). All just normal wear and tear after years in. Never expected this on a new vehicle, and never expected a corporate rep to call with that kind of response to a problem with a brand new vehicle.

From what the engineering team that came our and drove my truck said, they can detect it at various levels on all of the trucks they've driven. As others have said, before, some are worse than others and that is the rub. I agree with @MannyMan when he confronted the case manager and was responded to with 'what is acceptable to some is not acceptable to others'. Huh? This damn vibration put my lower hands and arms to sleep...how anyone can say that is acceptable is either insane or working for Toyota, I guess...sheeeesh. My inference from this BS line is that they 'designed' the truck to do this? Ya, right....

It was truly the dumbest, sh*ttiest customer service response I've gotten in years. The ridiculous lines she threw at me had me so floored I was at a loss for what to say next at times, and I'm not usually at a loss for words. But the lines she dropped on me. Damn. "Did she really just say that to me? Did I really just have that conversation with a rep from one of the biggest corporate car manufacturers?" was all I kept thinking after I hung up.

Maybe it's time to see how many have this problem and go the class action route. That will get their attention. It worked on the 1st and 2nd gen frame recall.

The line of words "within factory specs"is just a stalling tactic to keep them from being liable. They will ever admit to a problem to limit the legal liability.
