Make a fairing. Problem solved.

 

I just picked up a RTT. I'm going to mount it on top of my topper. I currently have Thule pedestals and bars. I'm looking for something a little lower profile to mount the tent to. I've seen Prinsu but what other options are there?

 

Unless you bolt it right to the roof PrInSu is the best option.

Awesome replies guys thank you for the info! It seems the MPG doesn't suffer too bad on top, more of the weight thing, but if you drive slower it's not too bad!

 

Yea I've seen your truck on here, have you notice a big difference before and after? What kind of difference exactly ( noise, resistance, MPG )...

Much less wind noise and resistance. As for MPG, I don't pay much attention to that.

 

Anyone use all pro bed bars to mount their tent? They look similar to the relentless fab, I want the top of my tent to sit at cab height. All pro said there lead time is 4-5 days

 

I don't know anything about All Pro's products, but everyone that has their products seem to be happy. However I can speak on behalf of the Relentless Bars, I have a set of tall bars for my RTT and it holds it up excellent. Very high quality product and am pleased with it.

 

Have you called the shop to see if they'll warranty it? There are replacement zippers available.

 

think you could stand undereath the tent at that height? like would an annex / awning work or its too low?

 

I'm 6'0 and I couldn't fit under there. I have mine mounted almost level with the cab and I barely fit standing tall

 

Awning would work if you had a roof rack..

 

My bedrack is at 14" above the bedrail and I fit under my RTT when its unfolded. I'm 5'6".

 

I'm assuming would also affect how much lift your truck has too

I understand people put the top of a folded tent cab high because they want to save on gas, but to me the trade off is not worth it. I love being able to hang out/cook/stand under the open tent overhang

 

True. I forgot about that aspect. I'm right about 3" lift. Come to think of it, I don't think I had the lift last time I had the tent mounted. I honestly can't remember so I guess my input is useless, give or take 3"
