    Hey there, I'm Blake. Anyways, I am getting my first Tacoma here pretty soon and I was wanting to do a few upgrades to make it mine. Also mind that I will most likely be getting a Pre-Runner. These include;
    • Lift Kit- 3in Rough Country Suspension Lift
    • Tires- Toyo Open Country AT II
    • Wheel- Fuel Lethal's (Mainstream, I know.)
    These are the first primary upgrades I will apply to my Taco. My budget is about $24k, including to buy the truck. I would love to hear about some mods you all have put on your Taco that make it unique. :)

    What I want to make mine look like;

    Thanks - Blake

    Rough Country is not a lift liked by most on here.

    I'm itching to do my lift, wheels, and tires too. They just cost too much right now.
    Next mod is a topper then I'll start saving for wheels.

    Agreed ^^

    If you do end up getting a prerunner, I would look into getting a spindle lift, it is more expensive, but is much better for a 2"+ lift then most options. Max trac makes a 4" spindle for about $500 I think. If you get a 4wd taco, I would go the route of bilstein 5100 and a Toytec 3" lift coil.

    For the rear the vehicle I'd look at wheelers offroad 2" add-a-leaf Spring. You could then add 1"-2" lift blocks depending if you want a little bro lean or not.

    Pure block lifts on the rear will cause axle wrap and make the ride shitty :( same with lift spacers up front. Ride quality goes way down.

    Hope this helps!

    For off-road performance 17" max. If you're truck will be more of a street queen, then go as big as you want to haha! Any bigger then 17" doing off-road thing with any frequency will dramatically increase you're likelyhood of a flat. Plus you don't have the extra squish (suspension) of the tire.

    Edit: apologies for all the spelling errors in not going to fix

    Buy the Truck you want and see yourself driving for then next few years... Add the Lift and Tires as needed.

    $24k Budget... In my area (DC), that gives you truck purchasing power of just under $22k (plus Taxes, Tags, and Dealer BS). There are around ~80 in my 75 mile range (truck numbers are all Tacoma 05+).

    But if you want to do the lift ($700), Tires ($1000) & Wheels ($850)... Now you're looking at a $19,500 Tacoma. and now you only have ~60 trucks to look at and keep in mind that 40 of them have over 100k miles.

    For a full suspension lift you are looking closer to $2K. You can't even get the parts for a lift for $700.

    Where are you shopping at? I was on ToyTec and here are some of their prices.

    Cheapest: Bilstein 5100 (set to 2.5") for Front and Rear Shocks are: $340 OR ToyTec Coils & Add A Leaf at $350. (Run both together is $700, Set 5100 to 0")

    Moderate: Old Man Emu coils and shocks with Add A Leaf is $750.

    Premium: Icon Stage 2 is $2k.

    I've looked on Toytech and a 3' lift kit with UCAs was like $1299. Installation is going to be a lot too (I ain't doing it nor is anyone I know lol).

    I've lifted several Tacoma and 4Runners. It's not to hard... first time or older rusty truck, plan for 2 days. But on a newer rust free truck with a buddy I can do it in 3-4 hours.

    Upper Control Arms at 3" is hit or miss; and it depends on your truck. If at 2.75" its a 95% chance you won't need them; 3" is 50/50; but then at 3.25" it's 90% "you'll need them".

    i needed them at 1.75in..... it all depends on the rake of the truck... those that have a saggy ass 2 leaf rear pack and lift the front of their truck can get away with +2in of lift without a uca.

    But pretty much anything above 2inches you should factor a UCA in.

    I do not have the patients to do it. I really don't know anything about suspensions so I would not do it right. Plus it needs an alignment and likely new cams. I just don't have the skill set nor desire to do any of that.

    Blake, if you get a pre-runner, definitely get the spindle lift. That is without a doubt the way to go for 2wd in my opinion, super cheap and easy plus you get 4" of lift! Then you're looking at another 2 grand ish for wheels and tires. There are a lot of opinions on here about large wheels, just be sure to buy what YOU want, not what other people want you to buy. Just be sure to do a lot of research before making large purchases, there is a lot of things to be learned here. Good luck!

    First I would get a 4wd...
    Also the truck you put a picture of is the 2012-2015 keep that in mind when looking..

    If I were you I would try to find a 2012+ 4wd even if it took all my budget and I couldn't afford any mods because if you settle for a older or 2wd thats something you can't change down the road

    Can change down the road. Maybe he doesn't need 4x4? I have a 2wd and get anywhere I need to go. Good tires, good driver, and recovery gear, he'll be fine with a 2wd. However, I do plan on doing the 4x4 swap some day.
