How easy is the grill to install? How is it held in place? Is that a rubber gasket around instead of the bezel?

 

The hardest part is the removal of the grille insert itself but this grille can be installed in under 30min with basic hand tools. The bezel has been emanated all together the rubber is there to seal it up nicely leaving no gap.

We will have a install thread or video on the website before the grilles start shipping out.

This grill will be on my '16 Tacoma. Just dragging my feet on which truck to purchase (magnetic gray or Inferno) to color match the letters - As with many 2016 Tacoma trucks the grille will be mod #1. Really nice looking product with the recessed feature @JLee, BAMF

Interesting - So the color matched back-plate can be ordered anytime, separately and field installed? If that is correct then yes, the order shall be placed immediately.

Jerry, will the default black powder act as a primer?

I ordered it default with inferno backplate, but would like to entertain making the recessed part of the grill gunmetal on my own. Kinda like the TRD grill but less glossy. Hopefully to match this:

 

If your question can you paint over the powder coat yes you can.

 

I think that would look good. I thought about trying something like as tailgate inserts instead of black.

 

Jerry, I guess what I was asking is do I need to do any prep, or can I just paint?

@ale214 I had the same idea! I am in contact with @rrentrop now, actually sent him that pic first. Looks like he is going to send me a couple of colors to take pics as examples. MTF!

 

As long as you do it right when you get it no nothing should need to be done the powder has enough texture for the paint to stick.

 

Poor JLee....lol. I can't imagine how many PMs he's received.

 

Just being tedious here Jerry, but I was wondering if there is anything from the prototype that will be modified or has already been modified to give this grill a superior final D-day product. My concern is if you look in the first picture, the top doesn't seem quite flush and in the second picture the corner doesn't seem very seamless in comparison to the stock grill that has no gaps flush and seamless. Regardless I already ordered one I was just curious is all.
