It's pretty simple to install. I could give you hand with this when the time comes. I want to get more involved with meet ups and meeting other taco owners.

 

Does any body have a stock front skid they would like to sell for a second gen. I destroyed mine this weekend when I removed it.

 

I didn't pick up a dif drop at this time

 

Don't see why anyone needs one.

Would think carrier bearing drop is more important

 

What condition are you looking to get? Mine is kind of gouged up from normal use.



I'll let it go as soon as I have a new ifs/mid skid from one of the vendors on here.

Was thinking that too but don't know it seems to have slight binding issues and the dealer tech said a dif drop might help...

I don't care about scuffs, but I don't think yours would work. I need one from 12-15. they stop at the front cross member. I have a steel bumper and yours would run into it where it folds up. the part with the TRD label. I'm hoping Mobtown comes out with skids soon.

They fit 05-15.

I know because I just bought one (with the contribution of two other members) for @DCSBFTMFW and I was assured that the fit was universal. Apparently it was because its on his truck....and it was labeled an 05-11 skid....his truck is a 13

 

Thats what i'm thinking because I can add in the other skids later to complete the set.

Can't decide aluminum or steel

 

I know the aluminum appeals for saving weight but think about what they are meant to do I'm just not sure I can trust aluminum to hold up... Thatd be like getting aluminum rock sliders.

 

Front bumper I can kind of see your not suppose to take on rocks with the bumper... Though I'd wonder what a deer would do to an aluminum one.

 

That skid would fit when it comes to mounting location but the part that angles upwards with the TRD stamp would be on top of my bumper.

 

I don't know that i'll wheel enough for it to matter. Not so much that i'd have them mall crawler powder coated, but not enough to need the maximum strength of the steel. Only thing I worry about is high centering and the skids bending to the point I can't get them off or bend them back because they're super thick aluminum.

I need the corrosion resistance.

But they are more expensive.

Didn't know you had a plate bumper. It won't fit.

 

@CanisLupus rearended someone and ended up with just a scratch. The aluminum tech is plenty tough enough.
