    What's up everyone!!

I was excited to see that a local dealership got one and I'll be trading in my '13. Was holding out for a long bed, but I don't care anymore.

The main reason I am posting this is because I took video of the piece of the headliner that slides for the sunroof. It was making this loud noise on the driver side only...has anyone had this same issue? I've seen other posts about "defects" from the factory on the '16s. I never had issues with my '02 or my current '13.

It's a new car and new cars have bad quality control these days. Just my opinion.

But Toyota is all about QDR, that's why consumers pay a premium...:boink::cool:

I have the exact same truck as you. My headliner is making these little cracking sounds (if that makes any sense) right above my head around the lights. When I push on the headliner it seems to be way to loose. Aggravating as all hell.

BTW tried to view your video but its private

lol pay a premium? an F150 XLT with few options is mid to upper $40,000's, like $46,000. You can get a hell of a lot of Tundra for that money. Or perhaps the Escape Platinum fully loaded for $40,000+, when a non hybrid Rav4 limited is maybe $31,000ish?

Regular MSRP on Fords is a joke though. Here a nice F150 probably comes with a sticker of 40k and I could go get it for 32k 10 months of the year. Ford and Dodge always have their nicely equipped 4 door 4x4 half tons for 29,999 here. Try getting a similarly equipped Tundra for that.

And who spends 40k on an Escape?!

No, and thats where a lot of the misconceptions of "resale" value goes. People compare MSRP of the other brands to prove Tacomas hold their value SOOO much better. Its not as nearly as big of a margin as people think. Yes, Tacomas do have better resale value, but not enough that it should be the deciding factor on buying a Tacoma over anything else. Buy what fits your needs. No one seems to understand that.

Couldn't tell ya. I just see window stickers. I don't let anyone I truly care about buy a Ford.

This x1000! In my area the resale value on 2-4 years old f-150's are pretty much on par with tacomas. it doesn't make sense to buy a 2 year old truck in my region.

Wrong, take $10k off in rebates and your closer. All the big 3 do this. 3 guys at work, 2 bought new Silverado's, loaded double cab, 4wd, z71 with lt package, $35k OTD, another guy just got his F150 for $36k and has the sport package, fx4, etc, etc. So for the price of a Tech/HH package 4WD tacoma, I could buy a similar full size domestic in options, the Ford 2.7 gets better than the tacoma mpg, etc, sure its a Ford, but F150s also fetch a decent premium resale as well. I love tacomas but Im also not 100% bias/fanboy. I implore you to do a bit more research before you jump on your fan boy podium.

This is only the second Tacoma I've owned and third Toyota in general. Every other vehicle I owned was a GM including a 1984, 1994, 1995, 2002, 2005, and 2006 Silverados, 1985 Suburban, and all sorts of various GM cars from G bodies, Cavaliers, a Camaro, and a couple of S10's. I've had a couple of Mustangs sprinkled in between everything else. I'm simply going off window sticker numbers. Rebates come and go and aren't ALWAYS available at all times.

The Tacoma I just bought is our 5th new car in the last 6 years. Also the first one to go back for warranty issues. While they are pretty minor, they should have been easily caught during final QA check at the factory or even during PDI. While this does not sour my feelings on Toyota engineering or overall quality, it does make my question the overall assembly of the vehicle.

I have been reading this forum religiously since I picked up the truck last week and it seems the problems I found are not widespread or even mentioned. (which is good)

Here are the issues I found with my truck with the build date of 1/16 and built in Baja.

    - Steering wheel rubbing. If you say do a U turn and let the wheel reposition itself back to center, you would hear some plastic rubbing sounds. The sound is every quarter turn. This doesn't bother me as I usually have the radio up, but I can't imagine the person doing the final test drive of the car didn't notice it.
    - mysterious green spot on the my door panel. There is a blob (about quarter size) green spot on the drivers door panel. Almost looks like if you took a spray can and just squrited a splash of green paint. Very strange. The detail shop could not rub it out--it just looks discolored, and they say a new door panel may be in my future.
    - The passenger seat covers are not tight. On the seat cushion, you can actually pinch and pull the seat cover about half an inch up and off the foam. The rest of the seats are nice and tight.

Sorry about that, you should be able to play the video now. I didn't purchase the truck, I just went to check it out last night. I'm just not sure if the whole headliner would need to be replaced or what they would do to fix the issue. One thing I noticed is how cheap/flimsy the sliding piece feels.

Mine has the same 'friction' noise. I'm sure that is as designed as the last quarter inch of the sunroof visor is held in position by that friction.

IMO, if you are a very OCD person, do not buy this truck!
