Headlights (Low Beam/ High Beam) / Foglights

This is my first post here and I'm new to the Tacoma world, Hoping to get some help, I'm planning on getting LED Headlights (Low Beam/ High Beam) / Fog Lights, the manual says the following:

Headlights
Low Beam H11
High Beam H9

Fog Lights H11

the low beam and the fog uses exactly the same bulb?

where do you recommend getting this bulbs from? Amazon?

I don't want cheap ones but I'm also on a budget, I'm seeing bulbs from 20 dlls a pair to 120 dlls a pair, looking for something in between.

The factory LEDs look great and worked fantastic in this morning's pea soup fog.

 

The factory lights are Halogen's not LED' unfortunately.

 

Yes, but i dont like the yellowish color, thats why im thinking about switching to LED

 

LEDs are very bright for a short distance, but they do not have the reach of a standard halogen bulb or HID. I removed my LED headlight bulbs because of this reason. The LEDs in the fog lights are great.

Sport model bulbs:
Low beam & fog = H11
High beam = H9

Sylvania Silver Star Ultras are good halogen bulbs, but they only have a year shelf life.

 

Does anyone know if the reflector or light housing on the fog lights are different for the Limited, as they call for a H16 bulb. I know there is a wattage difference and some outlets are saying use H11's. The manual says the H11's are wide angle and others listed as Normal lights.

 

I went with morimoto hid headlights and led for fog for their shorter but wider range........

 

I am about to buy theses soon. Have done a lot of research and reviews and these are the best option in my opinion, easy plug and play. I work in the lighting industry and they seem to have good specs and quality components from companies I have heard throughout my market. Couple other users on here have installed these and rave about them. H11 for low beams and fog and h9 for high beams. Some people are saying these are too bright for fog lights because of the reflector housing but w.e..

Yeah those are H11 bulbs. Technically it will fit all your lights. H11 (low beams and fog lights) and H9(high beams) share the same base. So you could replace all your bulbs (High,Low,Fog) with just the bulbs from the link I posted. But to answer your original question yes these would work for your low beams.

user @tasnowma just installed these on his low beams a couple days ago and turned me on to them so I can't take full credit for the find.

Limited models have H16 type 2 fog light bulbs.

Yes I knew that, but some outlets are saying the H11's will work in place of the H16's just brighter, so the question was are the housings / reflectors the same or different, and/or is the only difference the wattage of the bulbs in the same lamp assembly.

My sure that it is H16 type 2.

 

I purchased mine from JDMAstar direct.

 

Fog are the same as lowbeam in pre -2016, but now are H16 (a 19w halogen )
So be careful you don't exceed that load .

I put sylvania led (13 watt ) and they are great as fig lights . Phillips led are only 9.3 watts.

Very nice! Totally fills up the shadow holes I had with stock halogen .

I tried 110w led but in the highbeam reflectors I had tons of light in front of me but not in the distance . They had two diodes 180 degrees horizontal from each other .

Took them out now seriously considering 55w hid. . .

I've read they work well in the lowbeam projections but not sure how the hid light will cast in the stock highbeam reflectors.

 

I bought a set of

$40 Philips H11 CrystalVision Ultra Upgraded Bright White Headlight Bulb, 2 Pack

Philips H11 CrystalVision Ultra headlights today. They are just plan bulb replacements. I was not expecting anything special out of them, but since they are fairly inexpensive I thought id give them a try. After trying them out at night I have to say they are a hair better then stock. They do seem to get rid of most of the yellow color and are white. If you are looking for a significant upgrade these are not your bulbs, but they are a little better then stock.

 

Phillips makes a 5 kelvin version "if you xan find them" that may be similiar to ultrastar or zxe

Anyone have a better experience with these than the Sylvanias that last less than a year?
