Hey guys, I know this is a long shot, but figured I'd ask. I'm currently living in Florida, looking for a job in Colorado because I love the mountain life, always have. I came back down here for family from the DC area and took a demotion to do it, important circumstances.

Well, the question is, how would you recommend getting a job 2000 miles away? I have a degree in management with three years of supervisory experience and now am in logistics. I've been applying here and there for the past three months and not a single bite on my hook. Any suggestions or input on this?

Like I said, I know this may be a long shot, but seeing as you all live in CO, I figured this would be a great place to see what's up.

    Thanks,
    Cliff

Just apply, find jobs on craigslist, or indeed but I'll have to tell you that there is a massive influx of people into the Denver/Boulder/Ft. Collins area which is making jobs scarce. Also look at rent prices in the metro area these days before you do move.

If you're not looking in the above areas for jobs and are looking at other cities in Colorado then just toss out applications as many jobs as you can find in your field.

Some companies are leary of out of state applications, it complicates the interview process and some things you will ask for Re-location expenses.

Try job recruiters too, they also might reject you with being out of state and interviews but worth a shot. All kinds of Mid-table business have basically outsourced their HR and use recruiters to fill openings.

If your really serious, take 2 weeks off and come out to see recruiters and be here for interviews.

My last company used these guys to fill a ton of positions: http://highcountrysearch.com/

Better to ask what I have not done.
So one of my preconceptions going to college is that there would be smarter people here then in high school. Nope. There has been 5 guys so far today with shorts and a short sleave shirt on....

I'm amazed at how many cars don't have tow hooks anymore. Try to help people and can't do much for them.
