    Pics of what? Light output?

I posted a couple, aside from the original post, several pages into the thread. The first gen spin off thread also has pics.

I am really considering this but I just want to see more output pics, from you and other members who have done this mod.
I was looking into projectors, with halos, and demon eyes.... but the price is too much.
I already have smoked headlight housing and I am very interested.
Just skeptical as I have yet to see more photos.

The light output with 85/80's is awesome- without the dumb side effect of the halo or retarded demon eyes. Unless you're into that shit.

I think if you read through this thread, and the first gen version in the 2nd link above, you will not find a single disappointed person that went with the 85/80w bulbs and harness. Not to mention they are a fraction of the price of projectors, the upgrade costs less than 3 tanks of gas. This is raw light horsepower (lumens) upgrade.

    Hi all,
Been lurking for awhile and just signed up today, great site!
Anyhoot I've been following this thread for awhile and ordered the 80/85w bulbs and harness after trying various bulbs and even an HID set up.
Bulbs were shipped fast (im in Canada) just waiting on the harness now. Cant wait as I do allot of night driving in rural areas and the stock lights on this truck are a complete joke!

Still holding up are they? I've been running the 70/65's since I bought a truck... one just burned out and I was thinking about upgrading wiring / adding relays and going with the 85/80's. I looked at a set of 100/55's but I want at least 65 on my lowbeam.

Good amount of heat on the 70/65's after long run times but never has anything melted or shown any signs of fatigue on my taco.

That harness is very nice... a bit expensive but that saves time and hassle which is nice. I'll read all 15 pages when I have time :D

Yes, still holding up fine. Somewhere in this thread I mentioned I've done this to my girlfriends escape in December 2013, still going strong, will report when one of those bulbs fail. Also several pages back temperatures were measured with an infrared gun, warmer but definitely nothing near any danger zone for the lenses. The harness protects against heat with ceramic connectors and the larger gauge wire handles the extra current without overheating.

Nice, and welcome! You won't be disappointed!

Good deal. I'm going to order the harness/bulbs as soon as I can get to the bank.

I'm going to try these too to compare too: http://store.candlepower.com/4-840.html

I just checked my records and my Osram 70/65 are exactly a year old when one went out (yesterday). For the performance I would have no problem replacing them yearly.

Interesting find, that it is a 'candlepower' brand, which means it is actually something else and has been relabeled.

Those are rated at 2600/1500 lumens, vs the Osrams are 2400/1750 lumens. Personally I'd prefer the higher output on the low beam vs the slightly higher output on the high beam, since I rarely need to use the high beams. The bulb life looks pretty short, but that is typical of 100w bulbs.

I wonder, would this work on a first gen as well? (2004)

All you're doing is upgrading the harness to heavier gauge wire and installing higher wattage bulbs... So essentially any vehicle, any year, any make/model.

As others (who were quite quick in responding) said, yes. I did it on my first gen. Just be sure to test your truck to determine grounding as specified in the original post.

    +1 to all of this.

I recommend, however, that you TEST YOUR VEHICLE for CONVENTIONAL vs GROUND SWITCHING before ordering the upgrade harness.

It is covered in the original post, under the heading "Ground Test Procedure". Look for the picture with the multimeter for quick reference.

Ordered the 85/80w lamp and the harness back in November, finally installed this weekend. The difference is huge! Thank you @crashnburn80 for putting this out there.
How are people sealing up the passenger side OEM headlight connector? Curious if there is some kind of sealed connector/boot I can stick on there. Or should I just tape it up?
