Have you EVER read Japanese Stereo Instructions? Or Chinese? "To be making sure the goodly connections are made to be sure of most beautiful sounding of music."

English translations of about that level...

Yeah but this isn't a translation issue, it's just factually incorrect info written in horrible accent. It talks about carbon fiber panels, a longer wheelbase, bent frame, the wrong engine sizes....no way it's simply bad translation.

Sounds like a V6 that shuts off 2-cylinders and also shuts engine completely when you come to a complete stop. This tech has been in Luxury cars for some years.

before you get bent out of shape, these features are usually available with a switch to turn them off and on at your discretion.

If that's what it is, just hope it works better then the Cadillac V-8-6-4 system of some years ago...

I hope so as well.. The germans seem to have that tech nailed down pretty well. However Toyota's been developing the same tech with their hybrid's since the Prius.

It's painfully obvious the info in that article is simply made up. The 4.6 and 5.7 are the engines that go in the Tundra. Toyota is not putting those in the Tacoma. A small child in another country wrote that article using bits and pieces of what can be found online and bsing the rest, the site is just trying to get hits for ad revenue.

I think your definitely right, however when it comes to making engines more efficient, cylinder shutoff and engine shutoff are the only things left that toyota has yet to implement on their trucks. I'm a fan of the idea.. If Toyota put a more powerful & larger engine with shutoff features I would trade into it asap.

I'm not so sure I like the shutoff feature, I guess I've never driven a car with it. It makes sense in a hybrid, because the car can drive at low speeds in electric only. For a gas car, even the slightest movement requires the engine running. Stop and go traffic would be putting a ton of wear on the starter, I realize it can be disabled but then when would it even be useful? Hybrids don't use a starter motor, the electric motors that drive the car are directly connected to the engine, so they just turn it over to start it. I turn my engine off at a really long light or train crossing anyways...

I also don't see the need for a more powerful engine in the Tacoma. What do you need it for? More towing? Bragging rights? My buddy just bought a Silverado with a 5.3 in it, only rated to tow 6,600 pounds. The Tacoma tows that with the 3.5.

Its like crawl control, you don't need everyday, but when you do it comes in very handy. My other car has the shutoff feature, I mainly drive with it turned off, but when I'm driving home, long road trip or trying to stretch the gas tank to my favorite gas station I turn it on.

I don't want power to brag, I just think if the Tacoma had 350/hp & 350 lbs of torque, that would be perfect for its size. More power than that is not really useful unless you are towing 10k pounds, and that's what larger trucks are better for.

Not discussing the 2017, laughing at the article.

Any info on the trd pro Tacoma? I've heard most likely it will return as a 2017 MY but that was like 3 months ago.
