F**king News Media

Hey all. This is just something I need to say. I have been getting pretty upset over the last few days and I have noticed I am getting pretty snappy with my family and friends. So here it is...

My wife, my sister-in-law, and friends at work have all been talking about this Tiger Woods crap everyday, filling me in on all the gossip. I couldnt care less about where he puts his dipstick. But when I ask the same people if they have heard anything about the four cops being ambushed and killed in WA, they say "NO, what happened?"
Now granted, they dont follow the news like I do. They only see a little on the local news, or maybe what the internet flashes at them. But how is it that the media in this country finds it more important to broadcast all of Tiger Woods gossip, but hardly anything on the masacre of four cops.
There are the handful of real news outlets covering this tragedy. Other than the initial reports, it seems a lot of the media isnt really covering this any more.
Ok. Rant over. I just wish the priorities in the country were a little deifferent. I wish real news mattered. I hate how people drool over anything a celebrity does, but doesnt have any clue what is happening in the world around them. Sorry for the long post. Just needed to say something. Because people like your wife, sister-in-law and friends are more interested in Tiger Woods than real news stuff. The media gives the public what the public wants.

And really, there isn't a great deal to talk about regarding the 4 cops being shot. It was tragic and very sad, but all the facts are out and the whole story is known. Whereas there's all sorts of speculation/unknowns about TW that people want to talk about.

well one thing is the media could not be covering the tragedy about the 4 cops because other wacko scumbags could get the idea they can do it. Kind of like how the media doesn't cover suicides, or say suicide.
but I concur, the media is just out for ratings. And the people eat up that Tiger woods crap, instead of stuff that matters. . Sign of the times.. and it's not a good sign. It'll come back to haunt us.

 

This is just one example. Every day news like this is missed because celebrity A is doing celebrity B. This is not an isolated event. i am just expressing my disgust in the general attention all this crap gets. I am upset with the people for wanting this kind of news as well. I just thing its sad how we put so much into celebrities and forget about the real news out there.

 

Seconded. My college buddy is now a Seattle K-9 cop. He was supposed to be sweeping the area the suspect was found in, but was told to take the night off (as he had just worked for the past 24 hours straight, along with many of the other officers in Seattle.)

The media is afraid of copy cats. but not affriad to tell every terrorist how to cripple us by blowing up power plants, Dams, And other stuff. as they did after September 11th. On a side note, I do not refer to it as nine eleven. Because that was the catch phrase the media put out there.

It's like the 3 girls that died after crashing their car into a lake. Before the details came out, there was a female opinion anchor (on CNN I believe) yammering on about how our sexist society means 3 women can't go on a trip because predators might get them (they were missing when she broke the story and all she had to go on was a 911 call). As soon as it came out that they crashed into the lake (during her rant I might add), the story was no longer something she could speculate on and it quickly died. She looked like a real idiot.

 

Agreed. The ignorant masses are to scared/lazy to care about real issues. Sometimes it gives me a huge WTF?!?!

 

Every time I go off on these issues the thread gets locked. We have been force fed the information the big mega media corporations WANTS you to hear, after the government decides if its not too inflamitory for the masses. Republicrat Mike Huckabee released this POS from Arkansas prison system and in 6 months he was a parole violator. This leads up to the deaths of 4 civil servants. Where is this going to end? We hear about the crap about baloon boy and Tiger woodenhead rather than learn that our economy is hanging by a thread, Devaluation of our currency is eminent, corporations can take your property because it will benefit the government in taxes, the FEDeral reserve has been run by the banks its bailing out the list goes on and on. No one wants to hear the truth, they would rather follow the meaningless BS on reality TV and OctoMom rather than read and learn what is REALLY happening in the world. Have you heard that the H1N1 virus has mutated to a more leathal form in the Ukraine? Have you heard that the UN has cooked the climate change numbers to support the "Consensus" that will lead to "Carbon taxes" For the rest of the industrialized world that will bankrupt every developed nation? Obama is heading to Copenhagen to sell us into slavery at the hands of these climatologists? People would rather watch the soaps and sports to divert attention from what is shaping up to be the worst global economic disaster in the history of the world while the possiblity of the highly lethal Avian Flu recombinig with the swine flu transmitability is inevitable in China?
We need to wake up and set our priorities, We need to take our country back from big buisness Republicratic Democans.
