@lowinhz kurt, looks like Kari's 4runner is throwing the same p0441 code as your truck is. There's a couple of evap system leak codes too. I've checked the gas cap, and the seal looks worn (8 years old). Was thinking i'd put a new one on and see if the faults stop.... but we also have a smoke machine at the shop, so i was thinking a smoke test would definitely show where a leak is coming from of there actually is one. Then i was going to start looking at the purge valve if i don't find anything with the new gas cap or smoke test. Who knows? It may need them both...

 

Well I am happy to announce that the gas cap change has fixed my issue for my engine codes for now.

 

Any idea where you can buy these locally? Neither of the auto parts stores near me had them. I know I can order one, but I want it now. haha.

 

You might be able to get one at Best Buy/Electronic Express back in the car install bay. More than likely one of the installers just has one sitting in his toolbox he'd sell you for $5. Just ask them if they have an extra hood pin from an alarm install. If you're going to order one, just do a search for DEI hood pin.

Any one had any luck lately with the trails in the Norris watershed? Seems like theve been keeping them closed.

 

Anybody know if you can still get in Lewis Chapel? I know they closed the Henry Road entrance don't know really how to get in the other sides

 

Was this a brand new unit? Or do you mean the other side just went bad? Did you replace the inner seal as well?

 

My maintenance required light just flashed on my dash 8 times then went out. Anyone know what it's wanting done? I don't have a scanner. (Wish I did tho lol)

 

AFAIK, that just means you are 4500 miles since your last service, and will do so until you reach 5000 miles since your last service, at which point it will remain lit until reset.

 

Yep. It means "change your oil". To reset the light, hold down odo reset button, put the key in the ignition and turn it to on. You will see 5 dashes, the dashes will go away one at time and when the last one is gone the light is reset and not bother again for another 4500 miles

 

This^^^ I may or may not have a friend who's third cousin-in-laws great uncle twice removed by marriage called the dealer about this when his truck was new

 

Oh ok sweet I'm glad it's nothing big lol. Thanks for the help guys. We just got about 20" of snow so I was hoping it wasn't anything dealing with the transfer case or rear diff.
