Yepp, OTPHJs all day. and yea the chromed sh*t is always causing problems. Most of what we had that was 'fancy' was brought over from the first 302 we rebuilt, but when we got the new Ford Racing we started switching over to aluminum parts from Edelbrock. Great products and quality. Had a holley 500 4 barrel but it kept having issues. We were always rebuilding it or cleaning it out. Swapped to a Edelbrock 750 and it's been amazing.

my edelbrock 650 is a POS. Rebuilt it like 5 times and still can never get the damn thing the way I want it. I swear the thing ran better with the old Rochester Quadrajet.

I know the feeling, Except it's Taco, Mustang, Wife, and Truck. Guns and Fishing Gear have also taken a toll this past year. Military gear isn't cheap either.

I'm convinced it's just carbs in general. I'm sure if the holley was an older edelbrock it would have been shiesty too. We got the 750 to let the new motor breath. Just bolted it on, tuned the idle and left it. I'm sure one day it'll gunk up and problems will start, just the downfall of mechanical sometimes. Same thing with our fuel pump. We had a mechanical on it for years, finally put a high flow electric on it and it's great. If we weren't trying to keep it classic, we would have done EFI.

Yea right now most of my job money goes to paying everything in the house and then all the baby stuff as well. Luckily i have my GI bill still rockin' to fund my truck addiction.

The 49 is definitely a mega low buck build.

The 51 donor and 327 came as a labor trade, the seat this past weekend was $100. We got free front buckets from a later model Thunderbird that are comfy as fuck and electric, but are a little new for us. If we use them I don't plan to be wiring them in and instead will try and figure out how to yank the control panel and make another cover that looks more traditional. Or maybe we will find some other buckets to use, or a bench.

Everything is DIY and plan on doing all of the work ourselves minus paying @Bentrodder to do any suspension/frame welding since he does awesome work and we don't.

If it's driving by summer 2017 that would be awesome, and a bit of a surprise. Ton of work to do and little budget - the 2 link kit is somewhere around 1500-1700 if I remember right, which is by far the most expensive part of the build. Not sure when that money will be available, definitely not in the next 6 months. Likely not in the 6 months after that unless we sell some stuff.

If anyone is needing some quarter panels or front fenders off of the 51 let me know. Here's a couple pics from when I pulled it out.

For giggles, that pile on the right side was once a early 70s 3/4 ton Chevy with a huge utility bed and ladder rack. That 1951 and the motor were payment for turning the truck into a pile of scrap metal - it took 2 of us 4 weekends to get it to a bare, rolling frame and pull the motor and trans using only a pair of Sawzalls. :bananadead:

On the left is a 1965 Mustang fastback with a 289 and auto, was once the beautiful car my FIL built for my fiancee - until it met a pole. If anybody is looking for a parts car, the body isn't salvageable unless you're crazy and extremely bored for the next year. He's had it sitting there for years. Motor and trans are still good, interior parts, at least 3 American Racing Torque Thrusts (chrome) are good to go.

I think he wants $1k OBO and you can haul it away.

If you guys are willing to ship (and price competitively) you'd probably be able to sell them pretty quickly on the classifieds here.

Update on the VW seat I was trying to get rid of.

It looks like it's in awesome shape so I felt totally uncool with the idea of throwing it in the dumpster. I'm going to clean it up tonight with some hot water and some modest pressure and I'll either keep it and try and talk @Bentrodder into helping me turn it into some kind of work bench chair or I'll try and get some cash for it on Craigslist.
