    Is this the alternator going?

The noise in the first video used to only come on every 5th or 6th start and even then for maybe 5 minutes then it would go away once the truck warmed up.

Yesterday was the first time it came on and stayed on.

I drove the truck about 60 miles with the noise to get to where I was staying and when I got off the highway it had turned into a clicking noise that's in the second video.

I'm out of town so I don't have any of my tools, so it'll have to go into a shop Monday morning.

Thoughts on what it could be?

Buy a 10$ stethoscope from a tool store and carefully put it on each accessory.

The idler bearings on the V6 are very common for failure, especially when exposed to water, there are 3 of them and one tensioner bearing.

Once you pinpoint the noise, remove the belt and feel the bearing by hand.

The belt and bearings are easy to do, even at home on the ground.

The top "idler no2" is the bearing I've changed the most often on the V6.

Sounds like your idler pulleys? Or as stated already a bearing in something is screwed

Pull your belt off and check pulleys with your hands if you can shake them back and forth at all your bearings are shot

Hey guys I uploaded a video in the OP of the noise it's making now. Any thoughts you have are really appreciated. Like I said I don't have any of my tools with me because I'm out of state so it'll be hard for me to do anything aside from taking it into a shop I guess.

Idler pullys was right on the money, the top "Idler #2" was making all the noise. Getting the others replaced while it's in the shop and opened up. Total cost $300.00 bucks.

Thanks for all the info here guys.

$300 sounds like a fair price for parts AND labor. Replace the serpentine belt as well?
    OEM parts or aftermarket ?

Yeah I only paid $72 in labor so if I did it all myself I would have only saved 40-50 bucks after buying the tools I needed. Plus the friends I'm visiting live in Vermont, so it's freezing cold outside with no garage to work on it in.

I had him check the belt and he said it would be a waste to replace it at this point, still looked really good.

    Thanks for the input.
