Right now I have Laphroig 10, Aberlour 12 and a bottle of Eagle Rare Bourbon in the cupboard, along with the staple mixer of Evan Williams. I love them all, I really like the Laphroig after it's had some time to settle down a bit.

Canadian Rye Whiskey or Scotch Whiskey. Can't stand that American sour mash whiskey called Bourbon.

I'm a huge whiskey and bourbon fan, but I've never really tried scotch. A friend got me a sample box of 4 750 ml bottles and a scotch glass to try them all and compare, but I haven't done it yet.

Lagavulin is my favorite, and I don't really care for beer; but if it's brown, I'll probably like it.

Comparing scotch is enjoyable. I destroyed my chance with bourbon early on. As a kid I had one of those nights you never forget even though i don't remember a thing :-D

I had one of those with Gin. Was almost 10 years before I could drink anything with gin again.

haha I think everyone has one of "those" nights. Mine was with Mr. Boston. Now, I can't drink vodka unless it's mixed with something that completely takes the taste away. Vodka is for women, anyway. I was a sophomore in college and drank a whole 5th of Mr. Boston and fell down a flight of stairs, which knocked me out, and had to be ambulanced to the ER and get stitches in my eyebrow. Mom was really proud lol

This stuff is amazing. My brother-in-law and I enjoyed some of that over Christmas. Been enjoying the Glenlivet 12 lately and Glenfiddich 15

So anyone who likes an Islay needs to try Caol Ila 12. I think it blows the doors off Lagavulin 16, which I am quite fond of and I think I have a couple now (damn you, Costco!). My wife and I did a tasting flight last year on my birthday, I had never had Caol Ila before, and it was delightful, and I think more refined. It also appears to use the some bottlemaker as Lagavulin.

For you rye drinkers, try Willet. Wife got me a bottle of that when I did something right recently, and it is niiiiice.

Stranahan's is pretty damn good too.

Ralfy.. For those of you interested in learning about Scotch this guy is the Jesus of scotch reviewers. He started small making some videos while out on an injury from work and is now one of the top 5 reviewers in Scotland. His videos cover Scotch, Irish Whisky, Bourbon and Whisky in general. He also covers buying, sniffing, serving, tasting, drinking, etiquette etc. Extremely entertaining and blow your mind knowledge. I think he's approaching 600 reviews. They started as 3 minute reviews and have grown into 30 minutes episodes.

My wife and I, or more me, watch his videos just because I love listening to him. When I started drinking scotch a couple of years ago I used his videos to help me find value. I wasn't disappointed.

I don't dislike it but Macallan, Glenlivit and Glennfiddich are like Jack Daniels and Captain Morgan. You can find much better quality for the same price. Though of those three, Macallan is your best bet even tho I have a soft spot for Glennfiddich 12.

The Caol is fantastic, but I'm still a Lagavulin man at heart.

Oh man, that Willett Rye is a gift from the gods! I have to order it by the case here, we can't just get a bottle. Still worth it!
