A supercharger changed mpg in no way? I have read few supercharger threads but fairly certain i have often read they almost always have negative mpg impact.

when you're not in boost, it has no affect.. its as if the blower wasnt even there. but.. like me.. most people probably cant stay out of boost.

got the best tank since the blower install just a couple weeks ago.. was around 360 miles. self control helps a TON. lol

Oh cool. I know nothing about superchargers, obv.

I am in Wisconsin and just hit 5k miles. Just had my worst overall tank @17.24 mpg (and thats coming off snow and using 4WD hi a bit) with a good city/highway mix.

Thats why i feel the OP getting 14.5mpg or whatever is not good IMO

At the worst. Running out of gas at the pump that's still over 17 mpg. If it was more like when the light can on then it's probably no worse then 19 mpg.. 14-15 on any Tacoma that isn't heavily modified shows there's something wrong with your truck IMO. Unless that's just 100% in town driving or letting it idle for long periods. But I would assume about everyone has burnt a tank of gas on a highway trip to have a good idea of what they are getting and a stock taco should easily be over 18 mpg.

Yeah, I didn't notice any significant decrease or increase after the supercharger.

Sorry Paul, but that may be normal... it is for my 2010 V-6 DC 4WD, now with 80,000 miles... 14.5 to 15.5 around town mileage.
On the highway only: 17-19 mpg if you stay in the speed limits.
Best mileage was 20.5 ish and that was long desert highway, no cargo, one occupant, 70 mph max.

Yeah 70 mph seems to be tipping point. If I go over that for any length of time, you can almost see the needle moving. At, or below 70, it actually gets decent MPG's. Over the summer, I was averaging 19-20, with a 2" lift, and Toyo Open Country 2's.

I just filled up tonight...16.5 mpg. The previous tank was 15.7....the one before that was 15.2. That's a lot of highway driving too, but the 6 speed kinda gets shit mileage on the highway.

that was me staying under 2k (70ish is max at that RPM) and, grandma starts, drafting semi's and all highway. I mean I had to WORK to get that mileage.

That's pretty good at 70 mph then. Must be an auto? Man my MT is around 2,400 at 70 mph.. And I'll be getting about 17 mpg at that speed usually.

Yes, that was my calculations based on the miles I traveled on the fill up the dealer provided. Though currently I am just above 1/2 a tank and have gone 164 miles.

Thank you everyone for your input. Great to know I'm not alone when it comes to unexpected variations in the mpg. My take away is; Idle less (may have been my biggest issue), try 89 octane, let the cpu relearn for a few tanks and continue to control my road rage...for now.

    Averaging 18.5 - 19 MPG combined. Winter conditions, 15K miles, running AT'3s (P) @ 32lbs all around. (87 octane @ Sam's)

The biggest takeaway, imo, is to wait for warm weather. The Tacoma, more than any previous vehicle i have had, gets killed in mpg in cold weather. I looked closer at fuelly. Summer for me was 19-20.5, winter as low as 16.5 up to 18

Winter here in San Diego County, 10 miles from the ocean means some days don't get into the 70s and maybe as cold as the 40s at night. So, 'cold' conditions aren't quite on par with other areas.

Another factor in my California mileage being as bad as your winter mileage is that gasoline here is diluted with ethanol, up to 10% to appease the enviro wackos. Of course, only 90% gasoline per gallon means you use more gallons to achieve the same energy... and I am not sure how they think burning more fuel is better for the environment?

When I travel in Mexico, my mileage goes up.. even when heavily loaded for camping and driving fast on the highway. The reason is the ethanol free, 100% gasoline in Mexico (I use Pemex Magna, 87 octane). I get 18-19.5 mpg in Baja, on the highway, loaded.

As for the others here... especially the ones that report 20 mpg+ average. I question that greatly... as in are they also driving double cab, 4WD, V-6, automatics? Are they using real calculated numbers (miles traveled divided by gallons to fill back up) or just reading their "scan-gauge"/ estimators?

I have had three V-6, 4WD Tacomas (2001 xtra cab, 2005 & 2010 double cab) and none of them ever got more than 21 mpg, and only got above 19 on a couple of rare occasions... 16 mpg was typical combined city/hwy mileage... and I am no racer on the street or heavy pedal at the green light.

So, in the end... your approx. 15.5 mpg figure, especially if that is including a lot of around town/ city driving, is not abnormal... It's what I get at most every fill up when doing daily, around town, driving.

Oh, if you're curious... when you gauge needle is on the 1/2 Tank line, you actually have a little more than 1/2 a tank. The 1/2 tank line is = to 12 gallons (+/- .5), as you have used just 9 gallons of the 21-gallon tank. Fill up as soon as your needle is centered over the 1/2 tank line to confirm if you are near a gas station. I have made dozens of tests, as have others on TW to confirm these figures...

The following is +/- 0.5 gallon for variations due to temperature, etc.
    Full Tank........... 21 gallons
    3/4 Tank Line = 16 gallons (5 to fill)
    1/2 Tank Line = 12 gallons (9 to fill)
    1/4 Tank Line = 8 gallons (13 to fill)
Fuel Light On = 4 gallons (17 to fill)
    E Line ........... = 3 gallons (18 to fill)

My numbers are real world mileage, number of gallons divided into miles traveled. No BS. I've had 6 tacomas starting with a '96 4cyl 5sp. Current is a 2015 Sport, v6 auto DCSB 4x4. I'm 59, so maybe that makes me an old man, and I drive conservatively, but not like an old lady. I easily drive 4-500 miles per week, and fill up 6-7 times per month. Just today
filled up with 87 octane, 18.226 gal with 385.6 miles on the trip meter = 21.16mpg. Weather has been on the warm side for end of January in NH, so that helps.
