I was curious as to if you have resolved the issue with the bedrug yet? I also have the long bed (TRD OR AC) and wanted to purchase this product but am reluctant after reading the thread and am certainly not ok with a less than perfect fit given the cost of the bedrug. Can you verify that your bedrug was part number BRY13SBK. This is the number listed on their website but as you said, its also the same part number for 2nd Gens. Seems odd.

Yes, I have resolved the issues to my satisfaction. The BedRug Part Number is the same for the 2015/2016, I confirmed this by calling BedRug direct, who are excellent to deal with by the way.

On the 2016 Tacoma the BedRug comes up to the top of the "ribs" on the rear (or forward) bulkhead by design.

The best way to attach the BedRug to the rear bulkhead is by using the single squares of the velcro that comes with the kit, not the long strip as described in the instructions, use the long strip for doing around the tail lights where the BedRug "zigs and zags".

The Tailgate issue was because the installer had stripped a screw when re-tightening the screw after slipping the BedRug under the plastic lip, these screws are SUPER easy to strip - be careful!

BedRug is send me some more velcro patches and strips so I am going to reinforce the attachment of the BedRug to the box when they arrive and after it warms up a bit, with these adhesive backed patches, like any I suppose, they are much happier being attached when the ambient temperture is at 65 degrees or above...

I am completely satisfied with my BedRug, would go through it again, and would recommend to friends.

    Good luck!

I forgot to add, there is an excellent video on youtube on how to install the BedRug in a 2016 Tacoma which you should watch, if you can't find it pm me and I will look for the link.

That's odd to me. Why not cover and protect the entire bed from condensation and damage, much less provide a consistent look and feel? Glad you got it taken care of and ended up happy.

I think BedRug just did not want to tweak the design for 2016, but it does look good.

That is far less odd. Still a bit of a deal breaker for me.

Damn, that looks like a perfect fit. Did you have to mod it at all or is that straight out of the box?

That's great news and I'm happy you are satisfied despite all the frustration. I ordered today from the Leer dealer I am working with for my cap and he had made an inquiry to the BedRug company regarding the issues presented in this thread. He was told that while the BedRug has now been "modified as of December 2015", the part numbers still remain the same. Again, this seems odd, but I was given assurance that it will fit to my satisfaction so the order is in. Would you mind posting up some after photos of your new install? Thanks 8102!

    Yes
FWIW the second gen bed rug tailgate piece did not tuck under the trim. It had a finished edge and was just velcro'd.

I installed my second BedRug in my 2016 sport. My first experience with BedRug was in my 2012. The tailgate piece is identical on both units - they both install under the tailgate cap, using white nylon spacers. If you are not satisfied with the fit on the front bulkhead, install a rail and it will look as good as the sides. I like the idea of using the long strip around the tail light areas instead of the front bulkhead, it makes for a much cleaner fit. Push the excess material down into the gap between the bed and the tailgate. I used a piece of PVC pipe to hold the five pieces of Velcro away from the tailgate and secured the top first, smoothing out the carpet as I removed the pipe. The result was a tight, good looking tailgate with no bow. Shortly after I installed the BedRug in in my 2012, I hauled 35 Boston butts in the back, resulting in about a half inch of pork grease throughout the bed. After scrubbing with degreaser and dish soap, and using a carpet scrubber, the bed looked good as new. When I traded the 2012 for the 2016, the salesman could not believe the durability of the BedRug. Take your time and follow the example in the video posted earlier in this thread and you cannot go wrong. I will try to post some pictures of my install as soon as the weather permits.

Sorgon82 - Your numbers are correct. What is the local dealer charging (including tax) Auto Anything has the BedRug for $425.00 minus 20%, so you will save $85.00. Call them at (800) 874-8888 to verify shipping. I bought both of mine from Auto Anything and am very satisfied with their service. Mine arrived the week after I ordered it. And, NO I am not in any way affiliated with the vendor except as a satisfied customer.

Yes sir, those are the correct part numbers. I too needed clarification on this having just ordered the long box bedrug a few days ago. I received an email confirmation from Bedrug that these numbers are indeed correct.

Im in canada so the price would be higher then yours. The lowest quote ive got so far is $575 free shipping. Prolly equals out roughly the same. Im asking for extra velcro too. Hopefully they hook that up

The 2015 & 2016 BedRugs use the same part number BRY13SBK for the long bed and BRY13DCK for the short bed. both have the areas for the mid bedside cubbies (over the wheel wells) marked for removal 2015. Simply leave those pieces in for the 2016s.
