There are benefits to both but, I'd say you will probably get more use out of the locker. I'd go locker first.

Locker and a set of Maxx Trax. Then you can't be stopped.

Good point. A high lift can get you out of a lot of situations. You can winch with it. Jack your truck up off of an obstruction and then push it over to set yourself in a new line... Very helpful tool to have.

Get the locker first. And never make the mistake of wheeling solo. Your buddy can typically pull you out.

As long as you get stuck near something to winch from. No matter which way you go, you have to be smart about it. If you bury your truck in the mud in the middle of a field, a winch won't do much for you. Regardless of which way he goes, it's about being smart enough to know the capabilities of your rig/situation. (for the record I have a winch and LSD. No locker)

I had a winch before a locker. Sold the winch and haven't missed it. Love the locker.

That's way I paid the money for OEM rear locker on this truck. Hind site, I would have got the basic 4x and got ARB front and rear. Next truck I suppose.

If you went winch how would you install it? Do you have the bumpers or would you need the insert.
What type of budget did you want to spend on the units?
That would be the deciding factor in my books.

Locker and a hi lift jack. First.
Winch in a cradle, add front receiver, now can winch front or rear. Later.

I've had and used both for a few years now. For the type of terrain I travel the winch has been far more beneficial. Really does depend on where you travel, you're driving style and who else you go with.
Most importantly, they really are two different tools. Weigh the pros and cons for what fits you best based on your own experience.
    My vote: Winch.
