Re: our Taco, I don't like:

    Lack of a V8 option.
Lack of an automatic HVAC system as an option.
Lack of a trunk in the bed.
    Needs rear disc brakes.
    Needs better rear springs.
Needs to stop shuddering and vibrating.

I just got my 05 a few weeks ago, have the same problem. Did the tire rotation, still wandering. The mechanic said everything looked fine, maybe it is a problem with the skid plate causing upward lift as air passes under. Skeptical of that answer though.

My back drum brakes squeak and there is no convenient way to clean them as I know of.. There is a plug on the back side that I took a air hose and blew them out.. Doesn't quite clean it completely out and it is quite embarrassing every time I go to stop  any more ways rather than taking my wheels and drum off to fix this?

I don't how I had to spend $150 on part and 2 or 3 hours installing heated wing mirrors seeing as toyota already makes the peice that exact fits and already has wiring done from the door in to the cab. a fully loaded truck @ almost 40 grand and no heated mirrors?!?!! brutal in the winter!

also they should give you an option to buy with no stereo because the factory one is a joke!

the gearing in the six speed coupled with the rev hang is a little annoying...6th gear @ 2000rpm, only = 100kp/h

I wish the payload was higher, even an extra 250-300 pounds would be nice. I'll probably put some aftermarket springs in to fix this after the warranty is up.

    -Sound quality of non-JBL system
    -clunky automatic transmission
    -illogical cruise control
-lack of temp gauge for 13-15 model years
    -poor visibility
    -No tiptronic (manual transmission override)

    Still happy with it, though!

Odd shifting auto transmission and the joke procedure to check its fluid.

    Shit paint (super white)

Shifter on the floor. Put the damn lever on the steering column and give me a nice bench seat!

Shit brakes. Sometimes I fell like I'm not going to stop. Drum brakes are crap. Like the kind of crap I expect to find on GM vehicles.

1 It's a minor complaint but it is way too easy to scratch the plastic gauge cover.
2 I also wish I could have gotten the off road/tow package options without entune and xm. The dealership ate the price of the upgrade, but I'd still prefer not to have a tablet in my console.
3 The access cab the rear speakers are in the headliner which would make them a huge pain in tha ass to upgrade.
4 No locking tailgate standard on gen 2
5 You can't raise the seats up off the floor. I'm pretty short and it makes it tricky to see where the hood ends

    edit: NO OUTSIDE TEMP WTF

The hood scoop does two things. Looks really great but the glare gives me a headache in the morning. Never had this issue with any other vehicle on the same drive to work (including another taco). people debate this issue. True story here.

Payload is seldom an issue but certain can be.

Also, the aux plug (or rarely functioning hole). This is a problem on other toyota vehicles. Still disappointed that I'll have to re solder it.

Those hardly even seem like real complaints.

I'll take those problems over the many ones I've had in the past with rangers, f150, and S10.

I absolutely love my 2015 (best vehicle I've owned to date), but these things annoy me a bit:

    1) Fuel economy is baaaaaaad. I wasn't expecting Corolla fuel economy or anything, but it's pretty awful.
    2) Manual transmission gearing is wacky. I can deal with the super low first gear, but 6th needs to be way taller. I shift 1-2-4-6 a lot, and drive around town in 4th and 5th. Doesn't make much sense to me. I'd prefer a wide ratio 5 speed because of the engine torque. Still better than an auto though ;)
    3) Manually transmission shifting precision/feel is not great. Reverse gear engagement is weird.
    4) No heated mirrors, heated seats, external temp gauge. These are standard on almost every car these days.
    5) Seats are not very comfortable.
    6) This one is a personal preference based on where I drive (and coming from a Subaru), but I'd prefer to have part or full time AWD with an open but lockable centre diff instead of part time 4x4.
    7) I found a rat inside my engine compartment that I had to kill (OK that's not Toyota's fault).

I drive a 2010 regular cab taco. Here are the things that I do not like:
    • No lights to illuminate the bed
    • Reverse lights need to be brighter
    • Crosswind noise at the window (it whistles)
    • Speakers suck
    • Front mud flaps (they get in the way)
    • No center arm rest
    • No light in the glove box
    • No cruise control
    • No reclining bench seat
I do like the nostalgic feeling of the 2010 regular cab though. For instance, the hand brake lever reminds me of my old 1981 Toyota pickup and the fact that it still has manual windows and door locks is kind of interesting...

Love everything about my truck except the excessive wind noise coming through the door at 45mph+ that the dealership claims is "normal characteristic". Still experimenting with weather stripping and filler.

I dislike that as well. I'm 6'5 so that's probably why I don't like it. I'm only 17 so it's probably gonna get more annoying over time

People that complain about gas mileage on a Tacoma. What did you expect to get, like as much as a smart car?
