I am looking at two canopy options. Leer 100XR and the ARE V Series. I plan on driving the occasional logging road and sleeping in the back from time to time.

Anyone have recommendations/thoughts on either of these two options? Or if I should go with something completely different?

And lastly, how important is to be able to remove the canopy sliding window for cleaning? Leer offers this option, but ARE does not.

    Thanks!

I was juggling these two toppers as well as some others. I ended up going with the 100xr because it has receded windows that sit flusher and you also get a frameless glass rear door (looks cleaner and has better seal) which only is available through ARE on the z series top end model. And you can get removable front windows on either topper, difference is the leer comes all the way out and the ARE folds down on hinges.
I'm super happy with my decision!!

Hey YotaLife406, That's a great looking Tacoma. I like the sturdiness of the back window hinges on the 100XR. Definitely leaning in that direction now...Thanks for your thoughts.

I live in Vancouver, Canada. Prices have skyrocketed because our dollar is worth so little. It would be $3500 (including taxes) with removable sliding window and install

I can't find my notes at the moment but the base price was in the $1400's at the place I'm going with, was quoted as high as $1750 for the same base price. Windoors are going to set me back around $200 I think.

I'm going with Canopy World in Bremerton, pretty sure they have a location in Lynnwood or Everett.

I'm not sure if this is one of the places I talked to in Portland (I'm down there once a month minimum) or not, but the few Leer dealers I did talk to were priced far enough over Canopy World to not make it worth while.

I ordered a 100XR last week. Should be in right around when my SR5 is delivered (fingers crossed). With Thule rack and sliding front window and a $75 coupon from Leer website, mine set me back $2K.

like 8102 says, if you can make the trip to Portland you'll save 10% over WA for taxes. I put a Leer 100XR on via Canopy World in Everett, they did a good job with the install. I need to go back, as over time I'm leaking a bit now, but still love the cap.

By all means get the removable window, you'd be amazed at the crap that gets in between and trying to clean the rear would be a PITA w/out it.

-EDIT- get the roof rails installed, but don't get the rack. I priced them out and it's a bit less to get the parts via other sources than Leer (I think REI was about the same, but Amazon was less). I think the dealer was willing to drop their pricing to make the sale, but my plan was always a Prinsu setup, so I passed anyway.

I'm considering canceling my order for an ARE Z-Series and just going with a 100XR. Ordered a top of the line shell and it's been over a month and a half and still no shell, and I've been getting jerked around by the dealer and ARE. I paid around $2250 for the shell with a folding front slider and rails installed on the roof so I can attach my own rack.

You won't be unhappy with the Leer. Then reach out to Zach @ Prinsu and check out his racks.

Can you take a photo of the back window flipped up? When OP says removeable front window, does he mean one near the cab?
