debating if i should do air bumps on the front in place of stock and/or superbumps.

    Kingairbump2_7b1f3fffd4cd0223e04c43da19310e577bdde966.jpg

or should i just stick to superbumps and call it good?

I plan to get the TC lowers soon as well. Not going to go +2 or larger.

I think that was a pic just to show the air bumps, because he doesn't have those.

Supers work really well, I'm sure air bumps work much better, but for a non-lt non-jumping rig, not sure if they are justified for the price ($5-600 vs $50).

If you have the funds then absolutely :burnrubber:

I really haven't taken the time to visit your build if you even have one... Sorry.

I've been meaning to look at some of the 4runner builds and send them to a friend that is building one

    Yes
I used the Daystar Stinger bumps, they are a can style bump but they use an EVS foam insert internally. They simply unscrew and open up, no air, no oil etc just a plunger that compresses an EVS insert. They come with multiple hardness inserts that can be combined, added, subtracted etc and they can be set up for different stroke length as well...and the best part is that they are 1/2 the price of an air bump @ $200 per pair.

    image.jpg

They come in two different sizes and each size can be customized with internal spacers to dial in your stroke. IE: you want a really short stroke on a Taco front end so you are using your shocks and not your bumps during 25% of your up travel. The 3" stroke model is what I used with a 1 1/2" internal spacer in the front and 3" w/ no spacer in the rear.

They are mounted just like an air bump in a pinch can so you can always upgrade later to an air bump if you want too.

The mounting cans they sell for them are too long and every can I looked at was too long for the short model but the short model is what fits our trucks ...so we just chopped 2" out of the center of the can to create a shorter pinch can. I test fit an air bump and it does fit perfectly if I ever want to upgrade...but for the type of overland driving I do I am not seeing the need to upgrade ever.

Edit - you don't need a mounting can for these, the body of the bump is steel and can be welded directly to the truck. I chose to use cans for the upgrade capability down the road.

Forgot I snagged these over the weekend.. I think I could have gotten a litle more out of them.. Just ran out of ramp..

Superbumps compress pretty good, even under static load..

I know it's child's play to most here... Lol

Right! Even if I don't get the maximum travel possible, as long as I get more than the 4 to 5in I am pulling now, it would be worth it. I just want to make sure the kit (total chaos or dmz) is relatively compliant, not extra stiff, and will work as I hope it will. Besides the fun video total chaos made, I can't find a review of the kit.
