Remember though that theres weight on the 285, so that makes the difference a bit more..

Thanks for ALL the help and insight bud glad to be behind the wheel again. I need to finish up the deck setup, tuck the hitch and install the tranfercase skid plate and sliders and I'll feel like I have a good base for Ouray and get some trips planned :)

I'm still a nube compared to some on here but if you have any questions I would be glad to help if I can. If I can't I'll point you in the right direction.

Your set-up does it have a soft or firm ride? Are you able feel every bump and dip in the road? Or does it glide over?
I'm considering a build similar to this for camping/hunting trips but the truck is also my daily drive. Thanks in advance

The truck rides a little more firm than stock for sure but it handles the bigger bumps better. With the sway bar removed it has a little bit more body roll and handling is a little slower but it allows the truck to really articulate offroad. I daily drive my truck no problem. I think when people get the idea that they will heavily modify their vehicle and it will still drive like a Porsche. At the end of the day when a truck gets more and more offroad capable it cab unfortunately lose a little on road handling. You will just have to find what works for you

he has a similar setup as mine except the rear leaf pack is the OEM 4 leaf with an AAL from wheelers. And he is running the OEM coils in the front with the adjustable Bilsteins all the way up. Soooo....

    Front:
    Allpro Upper Control Arms
Bilstein 5100s (set all the way to the top)
    OEM TRD OR coils

    Rear:
ATO shackle flip kit with HD shackles
    Bilstein 5100 LT shocks
OEM 4 leaf pack with wheelers AAL
    Allpro extend brake lines
    Allpro Ubolt Flip kit

    Great looking truck!

So he's not running the OME Dakar leaf pack, He's running the Stock OEM with a AAL from Wheeler's ?

that is correct. I believe his plan is to eventually go to the dakar pack but for now he is currently running the OEM pack. The Dakar pack is a 7 leaf pack and the OEM is a 4 leaf. So he is running a 5 leaf pack with the AAL which is why his sits slightly lower in the rear and looks more level than mine. I have quite a bit of rake on mine because by the time i load up for a trip with all my gear and the RTT on top a am pretty heavy in the rear and need the extra support. Just depends on your application.

His also may settle a little bit in the rear after a while. But AALs are cheap and easy to install so....

he also has the Shackle flip which gives .75-1" It really did come out good. He is a practical guy and i respect that for sure. In my opinion leafs are leafs. They are pretty basic and they can easily be adjusted to fit the need of the user. Ive actually been considering removing one of the leafs from my pack until i get a rear bumper on there. I have a pretty significant rake going on.

Do the FJ Trail teams have a slighly wider offset then the stock Tacoma wheels ?

I really like the look of the Trail Teams. I was thinking of running the Stock Tacoma wheels but with 1.5" Spacers and I don't like spacers much, So that's good to know

Yea they work out pretty well. I didn't want to run spacers anyway.

@ragincajun35 truck is a great set up for going off the beaten path. Having a daily driver like that is great in Louisiana due to rough roads.

Still not sure what bumpers I want.... This is the first hard decision I've come across with this build. Everything else I knew exactly what I wanted.... I know I want dual swing outs in the rear. One with a spare and one with a ladder. Not sure if I want HC or not. Like the look but they are heavier and require significant modification (not opposed to it but...lost my ass on it last time). The front im not sure if I want to go plate or hybrid. If I go plate I'll prob end up having to swap springs to the 886s. If I go hybrid I'll be able to get away with the 887s still. Decisions decisions....
