You can put a 235 on 8.5s. Not sure why anyone would... but 255 wouldn't be a legal/shop limit, just a potential logic limit.

yup here too. I will let you know that if you stop in some soft sticky mud (or in my case your wife stops) and ur 2wd and did not engage the locker before entering said soft sticky mud, and can't move much to get the locker engaged, by the time you spin and wiggle enough to get the locker on, u may need assistance getting out of your hole. But I have personally never gotten my truck stuck with these as long as you keep some momentum, they clean out well and keep you moving.

No clue on mileage. I run 2 separate sets of wheels and tires. Only run those when I'm planning on going for a ride. I will say I would definitely be buying another set if they were offered in the size I want. But sadly they are not so I have to go with something different. I have always been pleased with their performance though.

Pics are in my build thread.

Any idea how they perform in the rain? I'm not lucky enough to have 2 sets of wheels. Lol. And the lady drives the truck on some occassions when I need a designated driver. Lol

My boss does about 20k miles a year on his Dodge 2500 diesel work truck and replaces them every fall at about 25% tread left. I have heard they are good tires but soft so they don't last long. On lighter rigs like Jeeps and Tacomas I've read 30-35k before they wear out. They tend to do better as a dedicated off road or mostly off road tire.

I started researching and this is what I have figured out, which SPC has confirmed. Increasing caster from lower arm adjustment cams will roll the lower ball joint forward, which pushes your tire forward. Increasing caster from the UCA rolls your ball joint back, which pushes your tire toward the cab mount. So to compensate for rubbing you need to max out your caster from the LCA and then fine tune it from the UCA. Moving the LR ball joint setting to the -1 position (+1 degree of caster compared the 0 ball joint setting that yields +2 degree of caster) would give you more clearance from the cab mount. This will only work if you have maxed out you lower arm adjustment cams.

Hmmm, interesting. When I did my adjustments in the driveway my lowers weren't maxed out and I still gained significant clearance from the cab mount by adjusting the from the caster from the UCA.

So does that confirm that when you adjust caster the center pivot point of the axle is moving forward and back? I always assumed that it stayed somewhat stationary as shown in the diagram I posted, if it is moving, I am curious as to how this affects CV wear if the CV axle is angled forward or back vs up and down. Then again maybe a couple of degrees doesn't matter that much.

Anyone seen a good price on the Cooper ST Maxx in this size currently? I got a set of first Gen wheels powder coated and looking for a set of "skinnies".

I just spent a good couple of weeks searching. The only place that had them (in stock) was Amazon. I ended up switching sizes and when I had them mounted the guys at Discount said there was a big backorder for the ST Maxx in the 255 85 16 and many other brands were also hard to come by.

I am sure they can be found but you likely wont find much for less than 250-260/tire.

Hopefully they actually have them. I called to verify a couple weeks ago and although they say in stock but didn't have any actually available. There was a back log till they could ship.

Not a bad price though. Maybe they got a bunch in and prices will go down.

edit: they only have 2 in stock.

I ordered a set of 4 from Tire Liquidators here in town. Took them 5 days to get here. I paid $1121.77 out the door with mounting, balancing and warranties.

Discount Tire was 20 or so bucks cheaper per tire, but they wanted $40 a tire for certs as opposed to the $18 I paid at TL. Discount quoted me $1115 out the door and had no clue when they would be able to get them.

Only thing I really regret is not buying the 5th tire for the spare. Didn't think it would be so hard finding a same sized decent used tire for a spare.
