The stupid tire pressure sensor kept going off on my new truck. The dealer says they checked the tires and reset it last week. It went off again Tuesday morning. So I'm thinking this stupid idiot light is being a PIA.

Today when they checked it they found a nail on the inside near the sidewall of the tread on the right rear. 700 miles and I've got a worthless tire. 160 bucks for a new one. Dunlop AT20 in 265/65/R17.

    160 for that tire?!

To hell with that dude. I'm gonna be paying $174 for BFG A/T in 285/75/16 from here. Why not just upgrade your tires since you already have to buy one?

if the nail was a manufacturer's defect, it would be.

Damn. If you were local, I would drive over there and give you my spare. It is the only Dunlop AT20 I have left. It needs to go...

I have one too out in the garage, a leftover from my Tundra. That is pricey, if only I could get that for my alloy & dunflop, its been on craiglist for cheap with no bites. :(

Maybe the tire pressure warning system isn’t so bad after all. A few weeks ago I met my wife for dinner. As we were leaving the restaurant I noticed her tire was half flat. I switched it out real quick and noticed a big roofing nail in it. She probably would have driven on it until it was destroyed. This can be expensive on a Subaru. After a certain amount of wear if you ruin one tire you have to buy all four because of the AWD. This already happen once.

Put your spare on the the matching wheel, and just buy a good used tire, or an inexpensive matching size tire, after all, it is a spare, and you may not have another damaged tire before you replace with better tires anyway, and unless you buy five new tires at replacement time, you will always have a mismatched spare. Next idea, go to the dealer and ask around for a takeoff with same tire and any compatible spare wheel and put it under the truck.
    -----------------------------
Don't want to pick, but why did you not check the air in all four/five tires yourself to rule out a low tire before taking it to dealer?; as the sensor was telling you you had a low tire.

The sensor had gone off within the 1st week of owning it. Took it by the dealer and they reset it, blamed it on a change in temp. So I figured the sensor was bad when it happened again so soon.

Never would have thought I'd have a nail in the first week. I've gone years w/o a nail in my tores.

My sensors went off the first week in the cold weather. I reset it myself...(after going outside and looking) cuz I didn't know what else to do at midnight (after work).

But yeah, I had a screw in my tire on my Dodge RAm after a week. That had road hazard and got the tire replaced for only $10 (pro-rated).

Shame these trucks don't have road hazard.

Check Ebay and Craigs list as I just sold my stock four with 800 miles for $150 and there were others out there.
May be cheaper to buy 4 than one new
