Off the subject but do the rear wheels need to be removed to tighten the u-bolts?

Nope , they are accessible without removing the wheels . As mentioned before , Toyota may have addressed this problem of under torquing the bolts

It pains me to hear stuff like this... We cannot accept this as the norm as it is considered a defect in any car. Reminder that transmissions (especially modern ones) are not supposed to act like this. If our trucks are brand new and exhibiting these symptoms, imagine what it will be like at 100,000 miles ... food for thought.

I agree, it doesn't seem "normal" to me that the transmission would have this much slop or slack in it by design....

I'm willing to bet money (not really, I'm broke) that this issue stems from the fluid thermostat as Gear suggested. It controls the flow of fluid in relation to temp and low temp is definitely a common denominator. Also the tow package equipped trucks either use a different thermostat or the fluid routing is different (I can't remember). Another common denominator.

My main concern about this is if it will cause damage in the long term

Just some 35% tint to match the rears and some 285/70/17 Falkens…
I just took mine to Ganley Toyota where I bought it because when the truck is cold, you put it in reverse, back down the driveway (slight incline), stop, and put it into drive (foot on the brake), it takes longer than usual to go to drive, and when it does, even though your foot is hard on the brake, the truck pushes forward. This only happens when it's cold. Basically it's very sloppy when going from reverse to drive when it's cold. I have a TRD OffRoad with the tow package, as mentioned earlier. I told them about all the complaints on this forum. They're going to keep it overnight, allow the fluid to cool down, and check it in the morning (under warranty). I've read that many with the tow package have found that the truck has come from the factory with a low level of tranny fluid. Once they look at mine, I'll post an update.

I just watched it, The video kinda sucks... I'll get a passenger next time to take it for me so I can focus more on driving. My truck does this every time in the same part of the road on an incline it gets stuck in 4th at 65MPH at 3,500 RPM even when I hit the brake it won't up shift. I will get a better video and post it Saturday.

The window sticker has the plant, and the date is on the label inside the driver's door.
There may be an easier way to locate the information, but that's how I found it.

I'm wondering if the truck needs calibration for the ecm and trans? The tech suggested an update should be available shortly.

I heard there is a rumor that a software calibration/update for the transmission may be coming too from someone else on the board

I really think that's the issue with what I am experiencing although I know nothing about automatic transmissions I was a service tech for a couple years at Fox Chevrolet.
